that would be nice to have npc we can talk with like chatbot. each npc could have a random generated personality.
Dude, that's a cool idea but I think it'd be to much hard work for the devs because that'd be pretty tough to do. But if it was do-able then that'd be purely awesome. Along with some complex conversations so you can get to know every npc in your fake life as a space traveler. Check out my thread here: http://community.playstarbound.com/index.php?threads/mercenaries-crew-members-and-companions.60190/ so we can get what we need in Starbound and that's more interactive npcs and followers!
What about your computer systems? You text commands like its a text game and your computer responds. Its based on keywords and terms though. "@computer check sector for life forms" Then it pops up a bestiary window of scanned life forms.
yea, kinda like an old style text game. And the npcs can be designed to respond to key-words played out properly so you can have legitimate conversations with them.
imagine yourself trying to convince an apex to let you enter into his base or a mercenary to join your crew or you can make conversation whit them to pass the time during acid rain. actual chatbot are pretty intelligent they sometime really learn from me. i know that would be really hard to do but like smackie said to me "the future of chatbot is in the video game" why not starting with starbound (if that not already exist in a game i dont know) sorry for my orthograph im not english native
Because then they'd have to hire chatbot and its gigantic database of data? A chatbot relies on comparisons of phrases hence millions of data to sort out. You can't have conversations with humans if they dont memorize words, the pronunciation, etc. Language alone would be more than a terabyte of information. So at best, keyword based interaction like in old RPGs. Interact npc. Type in text, hope you get a reply that isn't "sorry I dont understand" 15 times.
An alternative is to use mass effect's dialogues so you have multiple premade routes to go about this, and toss in fallout choice making.
I'd be able to a accept remotely decent dialogue mixed with a somewhat complicated choice system. EDIT:added an a
but that be cool if at least, we can build our very own chatbot in the game! i know that woukd be complicate to give to each npc the ability to have conversation but if we can construct a robot we can talk with that would be very amazing like racter (a conversation with racter) i think something in the style of this is not much complicate to do and it not 1 terra big
A simplified dialogue system is easier to mod: Npc "halt who goes there!" Player choice 1) its me, dont tell me you forgot?*speech* 2) would this change your mind? *hands cash* 3) maybe this will convince you? *points gun*
Actually it'd be way to much data for every single npc to have their own chatbot, storing their own data and bits of language learned from the conversations. It'd be a little less crazy if you just had all the npcs storing the same language data learned from each conversation. But that's still not gonna happen.
you guys do know that chat bot is not somthing you just "make" right? those things work by having peaple talk with it, store what they say, and try to use responsives gave to it in a way that fits, they can not just be "put into the game with deferent persinalitys"
i dont know why the suggestion bot dont show up to thx me for my sugestion?? maybe he dont like the idea, maybe he's afraid of being put in-game x-D
