Hello. I took some time to create this, so if you agree comment it please! (also i'm not English, madness grammar everywhere) So I was wondering about how Immersible this game can Be. And I remembered something about Terraria I didn't liked... The Fact that in servers with more than 20 Playing, Chat was madness, sometimes I was trying to call a Friend just next to me, but he wasn't reading the chat. I Found My Self Thinking, what is up with this kind of Indie Games, that Chat Bubbles were put into trash? In This Image from the RoadMap I noticed that there would be an Local Chat, for people in Our Area... In That same Local Chat, Why Not Chat Bubbles? If it is an Local Chat it Makes sense to be an speech bubble, if a friend is Near you, it will read what you saying and know that is YOU that is saying that. (because in other games like Minecraft or Terraria the player talking is next to you an we even don't know it) Example I did now for this topic: Good things of Speech Bubbles In-Game: - They are Immersible and fun, when playing with your friends in the same Area. - RolePlaying Players love such thing. - It's Nicer For Create and Take Nice Prints (like the example I Just gave) - Easier to Play & Chat with Friends without need to always pay attention to the chat window for see if they said something. NOTE: My Suggestion is just make them in the Local Chat, also for players who don't like them, an Simple Option could disable them. Another Fun thing that can come from Speech Bubbles, are Smilies: So... What do you think about this? And Sorry my English
I like this: Adds more to the personality of the game >: D! Otherwise, it feels like everyone is telepathic (Talking with their minds). (Off Topic, but a note on English: We use "an" before words that sound like a vowel (Hour, ant, uncle, errand, M.T.(Pronounced "Ehm tii")), and "a" for everything else, and "y" sounds (A yarn ball, carrot, baker) : ) ) Just a little tip because I love languages, and I know I love simple tips like that : D
Yes we need this are you kidding meeeee! I've played a couple of older multiplayer games that have this feature. And anyone that's ''too far to hear'' what you chatted only see the chat bubble, but can't read the incredibly small text. We need this for Starbound, agreed with all, more personality for the game, and better Roleplay experiences
Yes Indeed. I'm Tired of that kind of basic chat system that games of the kind have implemented. Talking to a friend just next to me it's like telepathic, ah!
Yes yes yes yes yes. The global chat feed is great and all, but when it has to share space with the 60th time all of your friends manage to fall to their death, it gets way too crowded. I also just love the look of the speech bubbles.
I don't know how big in to RP you are, but I love it. These suggestions are the things, that'll make RP a better experience in Starbound. I support this thread! V:
I REALLY hope they include this, also the option that the bubble can be read in the chat history, only if you close enough to the speaker
The bubbles on the pic look like they're taken from Habbo Hotel, so I think they should look a bit different. But I'm supporting this.
I like this idea a lot. The inclusion of the avatar in the chat bubble for local seems nice. However I would like to have something similar for planetary where you get a sat phone GUI on the lower section of the screen that serves as the planetary/universal chat client interface. Maybe even go further with it where atmospheric conditions can garble up chat text depending on where you are. Giving a sense of being alone/dread if you are in a bad location.
