Closed Character Wiped

My computer lost power and shut down suddenly while I was playing Starbound. After getting the power back on and starting my PC up, I opened up Starbound and now my character is gone. This is the second time in two days this has happened. Is there any way at all to recover these characters?

The game needs to be doing automatic backups or regular saving on it's own, this is extremely frustrating. Even if I had backed up before playing, I would still be hours and hours behind where I was when the PC lost power now (In BOTH cases!). Don't tell me I need to have backed up my files, that would only have made the inconvenience slightly better. I love this game and play it for long stretches of time. As it is now, I don't really want to play as long as the threat of randomly losing my character remains. (Not to mention the numerous other random semi-wipes people are experiencing.)

 

I've never seen a game with automatic backups.

Games do this all the time, its just not done in any visible way. "automatic backups" is probably a poor way of wording it, but I meant preserving the data in case of other failure. For instance, periodically auto-saving and/or using a redundant file system to prevent total data loss. Etc.

 

Why the hell is your PC losing power in the first place? o.0

Otherwise, I agree on an 'auto save' like feature.

 

Heh, first time was a snow storm dragging our power lines to the ground. Second time was my space heater tripping a breaker. Yay apartments.
