How will be the character creation name? Like, i can create a char with all names? How the people will know that im not fake? And how will be the system of login? english isnt my native language, sorry.
As said there is no DRM as online based characters, you can join any server with any name like it happens with Terraria, sadly, using the Terraria style there is no way to know who you are if you change character. If there is one account system like Minecraft, the story will be different. I agree with one account system, a launcher, so our characters are all locked to the master account, it's nice to avoid people from being kicked/banned from come back in another name. :alien:
maybe it could be a system of each person have a multiplayer name that shows up over there char name in game so people know whether or not you just got on or you just changed chars
Aww, but if it's not like Terraria than during LAN parties I can't steal my friends name and login before him and laugh at when he can't figure out why he can't login. In all seriousness though, I'd much prefer having unique logins so that all my different player names are known as me.
Well, serverside characters are an option the person setting up the server can choose so there probably will be some kind of verification system in place.
Terraria system does make it quick to play without having to log on, but it's too much chaos where a system like Minecraft keeps everything neat and secured. The only issue with Minecraft is the limited amount of names you can pick. So maybe an ID that is tied to your account, so even if you change your name you still have the same ID. This is something that will probably come to MC as stated in a tweet from the devs.
They will probably use you steam account as your master account but you will still be able to name your characters, and the server owner will be able to find that steam name some how and ban/kick you that way.
Pretty much this, but I'm wondering if the Beta will be through steam or if it will have it's own launcher until release.
Both beta and release will have both. You will be able to use Steam and a direct download launcher, whatever you prefer.
Nice to know, thanks for clearing that up! In that case it would be as simple as using steam to invite friends to closed servers, or banning a steam name from entering a server, but you would still be able to name your character whatever you wanted. I likes.

Has that actually been confirmed? Can you show me where? I haven't seen any confirmation of beta being on steam? Also, they will probably have a starbound master account that's linked to a steam account, but based on a non-steam version of the game they can't just have user authentication through steam. I'm guessing he's talking about the character creator on the site, after clicking create character it should save a .png file to your computer which you need a photo program to open (like paint on windows or preview on mac).
Although when it tries to save, it usually forgets to add the ".png" part. when saving the picture, just add the .png to the end
