Not sure if this was brought up before, already put into the game and I just couldn't find it, or if you guys already plan on doing this in the future but I think the ability to delete your character would be very useful. Just a thought.
They're extremely busy and have been for awhile so i suppose this was just put on the back burner. I'm sure they will let us do this by launch time.
Wonder if there is a Round about way to delete chracters by deleting the related character save.. but heck I wouldn't know where to begin with that
If you're using an Operating System with a file tree relatable to Windows 7: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Starbound\player (I use 64 bit Windows 7, so don't let x86 throw you off if you use 32 bit. Just go to your Program Files folder.) (I also use Steam to play Starbound, so it might take you down a different path to get to it if you don't use Steam.) The only files you want to delete are in this folder. There are 3 files associated with each character save: Metadata, Player, and Shipworld. All three are necessary for a functioning save file. It is very important that you have played the character you want to keep most recently, so then those 3 files will be at the top. Make sure the folder has its files sorted by most recently altered. Count down three files from the top. Delete anything under the top 3 if only 1 character you want to keep. Anything more than 1 character, just extrapolate this method, you'll want a file number in a multiple of 3. I apologize if I'm bumping a dead thread, but it's in regards to an unanswered question. I agree entirely with the premise of this thread; It would be much more convenient for the normal player just to have an accessible Delete Character button in the Load Character Screen.
This idea has been discussed on a number of occasions and (I'm fairly sure) on a number of threads as well. They're working on it. Just be patient and they'll give it to us when they figured it and other things out.
