Okay so I can't give details because the error gives me like nothing... all I know is that some kind of playeritemverwrite or something is the issue, I spent 30 hours on my character building a bigass space station, my current mod is the s3r1ous mod pack,, please help. I will try to get more detail here, but holy crap please help.
If the issue is with Serious mod pack - you should post in the serious mod page- with your starbound log file. http://community.playstarbound.com/...d-errors-fixing-most-problems-yourself.69198/ Serious modpack discussion page http://community.playstarbound.com/index.php?threads/s3r1ous-mods.68250/
Hi, I hope I am not out of line by posting my issue in this topic.... Wurmheart, the question you asked is exactly the problem I am having. I am not an lua expert and am very new to starbound modding. I learned most of what I know by opening up other people's mods and taking key concepts. I'm still looking and reading to piece together information to get myself more educated. Anyway, I created, what I think is a very simple mod. I could not figure out how to capture keyboard input at all, but I did notice that tech items allowed for the 'F' and 'G' special keys to be used. So, not being able to find any additional info online I set about making a tech, techitem, -chip recipe, etc. I made some simple blunders at first like not really understanding the -chip recipe relation to the tech and trying to change the name to something aside from XXXX-chip.recipe. Either way, I now have a tech that I can craft from the main crafting menu. When equipped that tech allows me to duplicate an item by hitting the F key and make 10 duplicates when hitting the G key. Everything loads, crafts, enables, etc. However, while doing my "quality" testing of installing/uninstalling, etc I was able to easily cause my character to become completely unusable to the point of where trying to load it caused starbound to crash. What I found was that if I removed the mod while the tech was in a tech slot on my character the character profile would get corrupted. Simply putting the mod back into the mods folder did not fix it. I made backups beforehand so I didn't lose anything, but I am able to readily reproduce. Is there any way around this? Is this a known bug? As I mentioned previously I did most of my learning so far by reading other people's mods. I found a mod that made a crafting table and then put all the new recipes in there so I started working on that, but haven't gotten it working yet. My rationale behind that was maybe having a tech recipe in the main crafting set - tier 1 default blueprints might be the cause. However, I wonder, based on your question, whether or not that is the case? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Also, any pointers in the right direction related to lists of all the starbound API's available would be great. For example, I've found places like this: https://gist.github.com/jordoh/7864154 But it seems like it is out of date. I see methods which exist in the unpacked world.lua that are not listed there. Are there any resources that show the API's and sample usages? Thanks for any help.
I had an issue like this and it turned out it was a status effect. Was your character under the influence of any modded in status effects when you last logged out?
it's a known bug yeah, when a character has a invalid tech the game seems to try and recover it. instead it just seems to corrupt the character. the bug has been around since the valentine patch. I'm not aware of a fix for it, you might want to try out a inventory editor program. perhaps those can remove any mention of no longer existing tech's. (i think at least the problematic part is in the character file)
nvm seems starreader does allow tech changing, under the equipped tab. http://c4isbad.com/starreader/
