character carry over?

    Hey all, looking to pick up Starbound this weekend, but I have one main question I can't find an answer for. Do characters carry over from server to server, or is it a fresh start with each server you join?

    Anyone? It's not a HUGE issue, I'd just like to know if me and my buddy should start on a fairly established server, or if we can explore on our own private server before joining a larger one.

    For now, everything in your inventory and in your ship can be used in all servers.

    Yup, your character and ship are saved client side.

    But there will be another wipe - if you are going to get attached to your character, you might not want to play the game yet.

    Not at all. I understand it's in Beta, and I won't have much time until the holiday to really play anyway, I just wanted to make sure we could do our own thing when we had time, come together when we're both on, then go explore a server with a higher population later when we're more experienced with the game, all with the same character.
