Character Backstory.

Hello people.
So i wonder,
Are you people making alredy existing characters or basing your backstory of some kind of character,
Or are you just along for the ride creating a character with a backstory written entirely by you?
Currently im a bit torn between this so hey i figured i should hear what other people are gonna do.

 

I'm gonna use my own character. I always do.

 

Oh, knowing me, I'll probably write around 30 pages of lore for my character as they progress.

But, of course, never writing it down and eventually forgetting all my hard work :\

 

I'm a writer, but when it comes to games like this I find its best to just play a character and watch how they evolve. If you do things right, the character will tell you their own backstory.

 

I was just gonna let the back story happen...
hmm this is actually a good point... someone better plan on hosting a really great roleplay server, maybe not the corp one...

 

Concept artist here, I use my own character, but not their true backstory. It's pure fanon, as do most non-serious RP's are.

 

I intend to create a unique character and document her adventures in a journalistic manner, complete with videos, screenshots, and magnificent writing for everyone to enjoy. A backstory will be included.

And then I'll have 10 characters just for goofing off.

 

I always end up projecting myself into the character if/when I do that :\

 

Hmmmm...that sounds like a great idea!
I'm gonna make a tumblr inspired by that...play terraria for now, then when I get starbound say all like "I wake up in a strange place...", making my backstory my terraria playthrough...

 

I actually already have a backstory for my Floran character,
And then everything after that I will be adding to it.

 

i'll just be the unlucky guy in life. good story right? RIGHT?

 

I guess I have a slight backstory for my main character, whose race and name is currently undetermined. Might be a human. It's kinda dark and serious, though.

Ever since (name here)'s homeworld was destroyed, along with most of his friends and family, he has been on the search to destroy the monster who did so. His outer shell shows that he tries to be tough, intimidating, and cool. However, on the inside, he's the biggest softy anyone will meet, and this will show. He tries to protect his friends and crew members the best he can, scared that he'll lose them.

Of course, I'm probably just explaining his personality, more than his story, but whatevs.

 

That'll be a lot of work

The first character? That seems overly strenuous...

 

It's actually very fun, and hardly any trouble at all. I hope there's a perma-death option and tons of survival elements; that'll make it even more fun to write a diary/journal. Then again, I am a weirdo and love pretending/roleplaying as my characters in games.

I prefer to just carve my character as I go, and not force any arbitrary restrictions upon myself. Which is strange, considering I have roleplayed and enjoyed it in the past

 

I'll probably make my first character [my human] with some sort of backstory, but my Floran will just be purely for screwing around and butt-rubbing

Space Viking obviously, It'll fit with all the slaughtering of animals and pillaging I'll be doing.

 

Mine is going to be a space donkey that suddenly took the form of a human. Yeah.

I would love to have a character-sheet in the Character-Creating screen.
Like in Mount&Blade:Warband

"[Your Name Here] has been a ... All his life"

A) Thief
Soldier
C) Merchant
D) Politician

And other such things, y'know.
