character animations?

    maybe allow the player to turn his head upward or downward when placing objects above or below your line of sight. it seems a little funny watching his arm be the only thing that moves while building/placing blocks

    Super Metroid did it without a hitch (With the x-ray visor). The problem is is that you'd now need even more sprites.

    Yeah but that was A. with a helmet, not a face B. only in 4 (or was it 8?) directions.

    It's hardly impossible to have a sprite that makes his/her head look up at various angles.

    It is very hard when that sprite could have different hair styles, hats and helmets.
