They have an asset packer and unpacker system. I don't understand why they aren't utilizing this for their patches so that they aren't the entire darn .pak file everytime (except, of course, when they patch different stuff, heh). =\ 500MB adds up very fast. I really hope they start using it to shrink down the update sizes of hotfixes and stuff...or implement something that'll let them insert the changed files into the .pak without having to unpack and repack it, heh.
I would love to hit the "B" key to open my bag. Other than that I was happy to start building my first camp after I downloaded the new update last night.
maybe the game remembered the true laws of physics and decided you weren't allowed to go faster than the speed of light
Touche is a fencing term. It's basically something someone to the other person says when they bring up a good counterpoint. He's acknowledged your argument basically.
Shields! Its hard to tell witch of your shields is the best, I think round arent as good as other shapes.(They arent the same, I know from experience) It would help if its defense would be written on the shields info. Also, what if you had stamina meter (like energy meter but only on blocking) and when it would ran out your block wouldnt work This stamina meter wouldnt stop people from taking damage on low level planets and it wouldnt let you open for all damage on high level planets.Balances things right?
What is that 500MB Update? Just wanted to play, don't see any new changelogs Nice idea. I'd love to use shield and pistol but 1 or 2 blocks and I have to switch to melee weapons. It's weird that blocking with a simple shield uses energy.. also it's strange that you are able to use energy even before obtaining a higher tier armor. Feels more like Mana than hightech energy. There should be a stamina-meter and later an additional energy-meter (depending on the armor stats) for techs, laser-guns, laser-melee-weapons or energy-shields. I'd also like ammunition instead of energy-drain for normal guns for easier combination of guns and techs (what means more mobility for less inventory space) and I think normal ammunition guns should do a bit less damage but have higher velocity bullets than laser-guns (at least for common guns.. legendary may vary).
Hey guys, just wanted to let you know I'm watching this thread. Please continue discussing the patch, but do not get angry about video games. If you find yourself getting angry about video games take a break from the forums and don't post during until you calm down. Additionally, if people are trolling/being mean, report them! Don't argue with them and encourage more rulebreaking, just report, ignore, and move on. We'll handle it I promise!
I mean, yeah it would be easy for them to implement it and I'm sure they will. I really had no problem with this post up until "The wild success of this early access has prompted them to feel like they are untouchable and don't actually have to remotely responsive to any problems or complaints at all." Now you're the one being arrogant. More than half of this recent update was nothing but fixes that, believe it or not, were reported by players. I'm fine with you asking for hotkeys and all, but don't throw around these kinds of accusations for no other reason than you aren't getting what you want. Yes, this is a trivial thing, which is probably why it's best to not have it a high priority. I'd take server imporvements, bug fixes, and the lot over hotkeying any day. And honestly, did not being able to hotkey really ruin this amazing gaming experience for you?
I'm having this issue on level 4 planets. Specifically I'm trying repeatedly to go to a tiny volcanic biome planet and it never goes (while, indeed, consuming fuel in the process). Fortunately the planet is nearby and only costs a whopping total of 1 fuel to go. But still, I'm not in the mood to experiment with jumping to any other planets in case this is an all-planet thing... I'll wait for a patch to fix it that explicitly says it has.
I've encountered that a few times since i've played the games, not new but rare, i find that you wind up back where you were with/without the materials used. I personally am still getting into the new update in my very....very.... very little free time (awww **** i hate work sometimes!) but has anyone noticed that deserts have ice fields where they shouldnt have, or that some planets have just a random section of some biome that doesn't go where it is considering the planet? I'm trying to explain it the best way i can since im so new to the whole forum thing.
I'm wondering if these 500mb downloads are cumulative or if they are overwriting each other? I'm accidentally downloading it again because steam doesn't agree with chucklefish on this patch.. It's ironic that this "patch" has actually punctured a few major holes into the playability of this here video game.
but it's possible to make a Boss called Lore, just create a very large book that tries to eat you once you put down some special set of books in your house
Is there anything different about the new update regarding servers? It's the same for me. Just forward your ports for Starbound (though I'm not even sure if that's necessary, unless I'm thinking of some other game), find out what your IP is and look for your programs files/steam/steamapps/common/starbound folder and click on the program that says starbound_server.
There's a reason for this. Magma, Volcanic, and Ocean biomes had their parrallax background scrolling broken by the recent updates. A whopping SIX LINES were messed up in the process (one in the surface parallax and one in the underground for each of the three) and THREE OR FOUR OF THEM HAVE BEEN FIXED. The issue? "nohueshift" : 1, should instead be "nohueshift" : true;
This seems like an incredibly useful and important bit of information that I hope the devs would see.
