Don't know if this is the best place to report, but due to My point too. This patch felt really useful when talking about software optimization, they did a wonderful job for mid-end rigs. You can't imagine how messy my frames became once I dug a small patch of sand in a DESERT ! x) Now they might want to work out gameplay mechanics, for these are rather unconvenient atm. To clarify first, I totally understand that crafting a physics system from square one can be quite a challenge, as much as I can understand that a two-legged dino thing would bounce at your throat and run fast. Just, for the safe future of this game's mechanics, I feel that not all creatures should act like this. Currently, this is a 'jump castle' feast where it takes more time to mentally calculate the bouncing mob's potential landing spot (and I say potential for there's not even a single way to foresee if the mob won't make an air loop to catch your own landing ! ><) rather than pure fighting. I'm okay with increasing speed for some of them, but this bouncing diarrhea is getting old rather quickly. Not a fan of death animations too, but nothing that can't be modded or added afterwards. I'm probably still used to Terraria's bloody gibs x). Same for NPC dialog boxes, they're not that important right now, wait for the quest system to show up first ! ^^ Also, looking forward to see some keybinding features Tyi showed us last time ! I miss my RPG configuration x'O I would say the same of Mass Effect's galactic credits ! x) I find it strange to complain about pixels (yeah pixels! xD) being the global monetary system, and yet not be bothered by the fact that every damn mob in the universe is shitting money as they die ^^. It's just gameplay convenience, such as rats dropping gold coins and potions upon death on some RPGs x). The Xmas was like a side addition to me, I didn't even care, so I can't really judge that point.
Well the idea is that pixels are literally the building blocks of all matter in the starbound universe. Since something like that exists, I see no reason why that wouldn't be the universal currency. If there was some other currency, people in this universe would just make that currency out of pixels. I really don't think the devs are ignoring some problem, pixels being the currency was decided on a long time ago.
I'm honestly starting to think you hotkey worshippers are all mentally disabled. Do you have the ability to read? Do you know what does "IT WILL BE ADDED" mean? Do you know what does "BETA" mean? I know it's hard for you to not do something, I know, but try to FORCE yourself not to play the game until it's out of beta (search google what "Indie game" means), are you able to do that? Not press on the Starbound icon? Is that even an option? Or does your computer start Starbound by itself, showing you there's no hotkeys every time? Work on that for awhile, try keeping your cursor off the Starbound icon.
You want different currencys in the universe? How will you devide the regions for a specific currency? If we take our world as an example there would be several currencys for each planet. Even if we make it simpler and say each planet has one currency or even every sector has several regions with one currency, there would still be a lot. You could get one step further and say every sector, then there would be 10 different currencys in the game. I don't really see how this could enhance the gameplay. One for each race might be Ok. Same goes for holidays. I am not a fan of adapting our holidays into a game either but I don't see a good solution for this in this game other than cut it off completely. This has nearly the same niveau as the post you are referencing to. Is it so hard to let a conversation be based on reasonable arguments other than rage and insults? Are you expecting insight out of a post like this? (What am I talking about? This is the internet. I'm a hopeless romantic )
My friend, you give too much credit to human kind as a whole Also, little indie game, not the ultimate game of the millenia (I doubt it exists anyways), chill out guys x)
It is pretty annoying. Both posts have some merit, but it's pointless to respond to (or even read) either as they both are just throwing insults and and speaking way too seriously about a topic that does not require seriousness (like the beta stages of a video game). Sure if would be nice if the game customizable keybinding. It would also be nice if the game was completely finished and had all of its intended features (I'm sure the devs would agree). And yes, it is annoying that people get so angry because the feature that they want the most isn't implimented yet, but part of indie game culture is listening to and responding to fan input (no matter how crazy, angry or illogical those are) so those who are angrily criticizing the crazy GIVE ME KEY BINDINGS OR DEATH guy isn't any more logical. All that said. It's super awesome that there are no more character wipes. This is the kind of feature that benefits essentially everyone (except for maybe the die hard zen sandgarden enthusiasts) and should obviously be a priority.
Definitely. Things won't seem as pointless as before now x). ... and that's what I call pouring oil on wild fire
thing i notice that boss monsters drop more rarely legendary weapons than earlier or do i just have bad luck since all bosses have drop only uncommon ones
Pretty much this. It also explains why breaking stuff and killing monsters gives you pixels. And, now that I think about it, it might even explain why harder monsters could give more pixels. More health means thicker hides and an overall higher density of matter? Heh, no. That'sla really tenuous explanation. And yeah, there's also mention of Avians and possibly Apex using different currency.
5 millions dollars is not exactly a little indie game. And i'm pretty sure you'd find that most of little indie games have basic stuff like key rebinding.
why don't you guys just use a key remapping program for now and stop creating static on here which just leads to the post being locked, here's a link to one http://lifehacker.com/5883003/the-best-key-remapper-for-windows
I'm thoroughly impressed with the update. The universe has a lot more life to it. I've noticed a lot of nuances in the flora and fauna, with more unique monsters and planet biomes. I guess if I had one critique it would some of the ambient background noise for the planets. Like at night on the surface you'll hear crickets. It's a great effect, don't get me wrong, but it's not planet Earth you know? Maybe by doing something so simple as lowering or raising the pitch you could make the crickets sound really alien. That's my two cents, great job on the update though! Keep up the amazing work!
how intimidating ,,,,, but then again a cougar could indeed take it down.. or 2...or 3....... lol im not ascurd
Hopefully the next patch will have the ocean biome enabled. I know there is a mod for it but I want to see the enemies and hear the music for it.
You sir, need to chill out. Last I checked, they aren't obliged to do anything but deliver a game to you, not answer your every complaint. Stop being so self-entitled and appreciate what they're putting countless hours into. I'm not a fanboy I just don't wanna see people tirading on about stuff. If the game didn't boot for anyone that'd be one thing, but this is one feature. The best way to get people to listen to what you're saying is to be polite and persistent.
Asset Packing and Unpacking utilities don't work... Tried everything... Nothing works... Guess my mod wil just have to wait
Thank you for the update, started a new Hyloth character, really liking the Asian aesthetic. I also have to mention a drop in FPS rate. Since the patch, the game has become very laggy. It isn't a constant issue, but it has become very noticeable. It seems that a lot of projectiles at once makes this happen. I brought the Penguin UFO in to a Glitch village and the game all but froze up. Also I read about increased drop rates, but all I have seen is increase in pixel and stim drops. Don't get me wrong, love that stuff, but I still want that big ol' blade the Glitch King was chopping me with.
