So the answer would be "Not easy to do. Chill out"? It's actually worse than i thought. How many people are working on this? Not easy is always the case in terms of programming something. It's just a matter of time. So take the time to do it. The fact that this is not a priority is more than annoying, it's actually pretty disturbing. I mean, how are handled the priorities on this project, seriously??
Solution: Learn the controls and stop being such an arrow-key fanboy... It's not like their bad controls anyway you arsewipe.
It's amazing how every playthrough is different. This will be the 4th time I get a char to the final tier and this time I'm less lucky with drops so I have to work harder. I like that very much, so far only found a few minor bugs but for the rest it runs really smooth on my laptop and pc. Great job. For the people that have troubles, I hope the hotfix makes it better for you!
Okay, this is the kinda shit that Whiplashr is talking about: While I got issues with how he says stuff it doesn't mean people might not need key rebinding. So, y'know, don't be a dumbass just to be contrarian.
That has been in since last update, it is a little annoying but nothing major. I would also like to say thank you for the hotfix!
I know Starbound is still in a beta state, but Chucklefish's priority for some of these additions mystifies me. Why all these bells and whistles before basic functionality like a delete key on the character screen? Or the basic addition of a no "hide clothes" checkbox on character creation so certain customization like human underwear are even possible? Heck, why is "join the starbound community" the big shiny button when you load up the game instead of... y'know, the button to actually play the game which looks like an afterthought at the bottom of the window? (I know player feedback is important right now, but if I was a developer I'd prioritize quality feedback over quantity.)
I think the permadeath feature is awesome. This is definitely going to help with my issue of always starting over. Now the main goal will be just to survive for as long as possible.
after patching a few hours ago, i went to open game just now and now im doing another download 498mb ???
Balance issues do not seem to have been addressed. Initial gameplay is poor. Resource acquisition times are way too long for early players. I've spent over an hour on the new patch and found 6 iron. The mobs are still far stronger than the initial character, and it still takes FOREVER to get a good base setup. Digging out cobblestone with a stone pickax is tedious, but there is no other option until silver is found, and then it still isn't 'strong' enough. I think I'll find other things to do until such time as this game is worked out. The requirement of pixels to craft anything is absurd. Armour costs way too high. Meat only available with a bow, but it takes awhile to craft one. Great concept still, just not ready yet.
i want meat drop to be more often when not using hunting knife, since hunting knife is useless doing 4 damage
The fact that it's not done yet, despite their "working on it" for over a month? Unless the game's got a foundation of the worst spaghetti code in history, there is no way for key bindings to take this long if they were ACTUALLY working on it, as promised.
I'm having the same issue. The songbook no longer includes songs added via the songs folder, even when I remade the folder and refilled it.
So since I'm incredibly lazy and curious about something I figured I'd ask here. Does this mean that the old .shipworld files prior to this update no longer work and we're stuck with that tiny ass ship?
I have to say, thanks for the quick hotfix...however...did it really need to be another 500MB? I mean, sure...I'm probably re-downloading the .pak file...but couldn't you have set up a way to modify the .pak file w/o having to redownload the whole thing? I mean, you have the unpack and pack executables...why not use them in the patching process (if it's not possible to change them otherwise) so that we don't have to download the entire thing? Yes, I realize it's beta...but that's also one of the reasons I'm pointing it out...so that hopefully it gets looked at.
Does anyone else who has a Mac have issues with starting up Starbound? It won't load for me since the update.
