Please do bear in mind that they said in advance that this is what Stage One was going to be like. We were all warned, and told that if this wasn't the way we wanted to play, we should hold tight for stage two. Complaining about it doesn't change the fact that it seems you missed that blog entry.
In fairness, they have separate people working on content and working on mechanics/fixes if I recall. Adding what amounts to already completed cosmetic items does little if anything in hindering progress of fixing things.
For those who want to play with the new update, but don't want to lose their ships and stuff, just google starreader inventory editor. I don't use it myself, I'd rather start over, but if you really miss your blink or grappling hook you should give it a try. About the update: I like the new planet and weather changes, but I don't think I will be using the free home warp. It seems a bit like cheat to me, I would rather just use a mod to make my ship big enough to be my home.
no it's not i just hate beta patches i feel like there should be no such thing because if it's beta it's not fully patched/updated
You realize that in order to know if updates work they have to have a large number of people test them, right? So, they release patches during the Beta to see if it works and then they make tweaks until it's all good. How do you define a Beta? Or would you just prefer them call them "Beta Updates" instead of "Patches"? I'm not trying to come off as rude, but I really don't understand how you can expect them to wait until the full release to release a bunch of patches that they won't know are working. This is how all Betas tend to work.
They probably saw the complaints, I think they'll come up with something soon-ish, it would be weird for them to ignore it as it plagues about every server.
Oh no, adding some holiday themed items means their priorities are not straight. Who made you captain murder Santa Claus? They will probably use the same items for next year too so it is progress none the less. And since when is fun for 90 percent of the Starbound community (besides you) not progress? IT'S A GAME!!! GAYMES R SRS BSNES.. 4R3AL. It is an incomplete product and they are adding and fixing bugs every day. It is in the end completely in their control what their priorities are and what they do. This is why they are developers and game designers, etc. And we are thousands of ungrateful beta testers that talk more about what they should be doing and how they are doing things wrong rather than actually saying thank you for working on a great game.
That's the point of a beta. It's to patch up the bugs and issues with the game before it is released. Not to sound rude, but if this isn't your first beta then you should probably try to fully understand what you are ranting about before you start arguments.
To be fair, they are actually game-breaking, as the no-dungeon thing automatically means this current universe must be wiped again, which is kinda off-putting for people (I can live with wipes personally). The crop thing is just an another exploit to make the game super-easy, added to the bunch of exploits in the game already. The meteorite thing blows up all people's houses every few minutes, pissing em off, the music crash thing is hard to fix for the less techy people and may really put off the people that were enjoying the music system (I'm telling you, it's an important part of the game...). I agree with his comment because... Oh wait, I explained already. Even betas get tested before being released in the wild. How can we test new features and provide feedback if the rest of the game breaks with an update? People won't focus on the new stuff, and feedback about em will disappear in the sea of "EVERYTHING IS BROKEN" posts, which is a very predictable effect. If these issues weren't there in this release, everybody would've posted tons of feedback about the NEW stuff now, which is the important kind of feedback. Even more so, because news isn't directly thrown into your face in the launcher or posted on here, many people will also miss the "your ship might be wiped!" message/news and instead come complaining here, further flooding the forums, and I can't blame them to be honest. I'm just saying that some particular things could be handled better, it will also speed up development in the end, I'm very sure of that.
Hello, not sure if this is the spot to say this, but I've found a bit of a glitch (no pun intended) Started a new world as a human, found a mushroom village settlement of sorts, and i stole their sugarcane. Though, i got 10 seeds, i could never combine the 1 and 9 seeds. the group of 9 seeds when planted gave me fully grown sugarcane, which gives me so far an infinite supply of sugar and plant fibers. Saying this just in case anyone else hasn't posted about this.
Exactly, so you would expect they would learn from the mistakes other games have made during their early public development stages (*ahem* Minecraft *ahem*)
I just feel like some of those could either be the people finding them having extremely bad luck or me having extremely good luck. I've been playing all day and I've found several towns and dungeons and haven't even experienced one meteor shower yet or any instant crops. So it must only be game breaking for some people. The instrument thing I guess could be considered bad, but I don't think not being able to use instruments for a day or two until they fix this could hardly be called game breaking.
This update is good and all, but frankly it's a pisstake how no warning was given about the kind of wipe that was going to happen. I was playing the game 5m beforehand and checked the forums 5m before the update, and heard nothing, if you just gave a warning players could have saved a lot of important stuff. I can't complain too much because I keep most important things in my personal inventory, but so many things were lost from my ship's inventory. Think a little! Correct me if I'm wrong.
When things are changed(Patches are made/updates) bugs always occur with those new updates. Even with stuff that has already been added, it may cause bugs and issues with those, too. Which is why this is a beta test because the game is still in development so there are going to be a lot of bugs. There is nothing to do bug to just deal with it. It's in beta, people!
