Challenger rooms too easy

At least all the ones I've encountered so far are. You can even use the ropes to cheat and get through it faster. Maybe make it harder, but also more forgiving. There's a difference between challenging and punishing. The current challenge rooms are punishing but easy.

How about a pixel cost or something for re-entering instead of it just disappearing?

Also, I don't think you should be able to teleport to allies in a challenge room. The below video talks about punishing vs difficult. In a difficult game, you can retry. You don't just lose access if you fail.

Techs in general negate a lot of the threat of challenge rooms. Even the morphball tech isn't needed. (Duck-dash)

This is the first iteration of challenge rooms, and its infinatly expandable. I would be surprised if we see multi stage setups in the future.

The disappearing door I can understand being for and against. You are either good enough to complete it or you aren't. Tough luck.

You tried the easiest one on the easiest planet. Of course it was easy, it is supposed to be. It is an introduction to them.

You have 26 left to try, on 5 higher planet tiers.

This is like finishing the 5 minute tutorial of any game then lambasting it as too easy.

the location doesn't actually reflect on their difficulty... plus it's difficult to design a challenge room that is remotely possible when some of the techs make it so easy to cheese it. dodging deathlasers? I TELEPORT PAST THEM. platforming challenge? ROCKETBOOTS AND TELEPORTATION

    Shield > Lazorz. Grappling Hook/Rope > Platforming. Morphball tunnel = Crouch-Dashing.
That said I do try to play the challenges without using my techs. They're still pretty easy.

That there can be many iterations of challenge rooms makes me want to not only find them all, but perhaps develop a few myself. That said, i don't think they are too easy, as you can only do it once, and normal difficulty players need to prepare as if they were going on a mission for them.(or risk losing ores, and its pretty easy to get nicked for high damage in there)

Its ironic that you say it is too easy, but your suggestion would actually make it easier to do, while not addressing HOW to actually make it harder.

Well, even with the exclusion of techs, which make pretty much every challenge dungeon entirely trivial (especially Targeted Blink), I'd argue that they are still quite easy. It's a new system, so my criticism here is by no means harsh, as obviously it's unfinished at the moment, but for something that's intended to be challenging, I'd definitely like to see a much bigger challenge (and a much bigger reward, the rewards from challenge dungeons are usually fairly lackluster and please stop giving me tech chips I have every tech and 74 tech chips sitting around, I can't even sell them!)

I should edit to say that one challenge dungeon I did actually fail. I loaded in, dropped down and was instantly murdered in a dark room by like 6 NPCs. This was when I had bad armor and a bad weapon, so that was fun.

Considering I've replied to a topic saying that challenge rooms are too hard to be enjoyable, I really think it's all up to personal skill and the way people go about tackling them. I think they're a decent challenge myself and I have had no issue with them. I've completed all three of the ones I've come across with my current character. They're a much more welcome, actually doable, challenge than those Apex testing chamber dungeons. Now THOSE are a pain and I have never once gotten through one without almost dying. Thank goodness the challenge rooms are nothing like that.

I would however like to be able to re-enter a challenge room. Perhaps they should only disappear after you leave through the exit door. It could be that they haven't yet created a way for the challenge rooms to stick around until after completion.

This is so funny, there was a thread about them being too hard not long ago (and not just for being punishing).

But yea, having some way to retry them (for a cost) would be neat.

Finished more challenge rules. All of them are easy. I say they make them more difficult but give you more opportunities to complete them. The difference between a punishing game and a difficult one is in the punishing one, you lose a huge amount of stuff when you die like an hour of play or a whole challenge room whereas the in the difficult one, you have more chances to succeed, but the game can also be harder because the price of failure isn't so steep.

That's nonsense. The thing you are complaining about isn't specific to the challenge room, it is a optional mechanic that is present in all gameplay and missions, and is remedied with the same methods(storing your ores, pressing excess pixels). There is no reason death should be toned down in challenge rooms when you agreed to how it would play out when you started the game.

...what? You're talking about something completely different than what I'm talking about. I'm talking about being unable to re-enter the challenge room. This has nothing to do with whether you chose casual or whatever difficulty. This has to do with challenge rooms disappearing upon death and being too easy to complete since you only have one shot (they have to make it easy). They should make them harder but allow you to re-enter them.[DOUBLEPOST=1441432949][/DOUBLEPOST]
No, it would make it harder. It would be less punishing though. That's the whole point of my OP...

There is a difference between punishing and difficult. The video in the OP is supposed to explain that.
