Central space

I have an idea. What if we'll collaborate on exploring one specific part of each sector, cataloguising everything et cetera? I am talking about the region with coordinates 0,0 and around that central point.

I think it will be nice to have some part of space completely mapped, and there are no better part to do it than that one. Naturally, bold explorers will always have their vast unknowns - just enter large coordinate numbers and go nuts. But central space could become hubs of certainity and civilization on public servers and in meta gaming.

Unfortunately, right now I lack time to play Starbound feverishly enough to pursue this goal with any degree of efficiency. My post-wipe character is still in Beta sector, but he is on a planet with 0,7 coordinates or something like that.

I hope someone with abundance of time will like this idea and try to rally people to do it.

So basically you mean like a player-made city? It'd be neat, if not for the space pirates.

Not just a city. A galactic metropolitan region, a default place to go on a new server to see people. One of the central star systems may become a default trade hub, like Jita in EVE online. Other, maybe some huge flat grasslands planet, may become default "entrance" planet, with information and resources and tribute monuments from server members. Et cetera. Meta-gaming trans-servet community hub zone.

 

Ah, like an empire. Yeah, that could work, but most people would say "Oooh, neat walls, yoink!"
