Hi guys, So I was thinking that even though current cities/villages are really cool, but having a large capital city would be amazing also. Idea is: 1) You can't make it to the capital city unless you collect a full set of special items. E.g. it could be every codex book or some other items which you have to search for through-out the game. Shouldn't be an easy task 2) After you collect every item, described above, you get coordinates of a planet where capital city resides 3) Capital city is a source of quests, additional items, vehicles and so on 4) You will get an ability to store your money in a bank, trade on a market and do some other economical things 5) Probably, undestructible Just to summarize, it'd be cool to get an unique large city, full of life, full of quests and items and a lot of places to explore.
One small problem, Earth is currently being devoured by a giant monster so unless you have an idea for a new human capital I'm all ears.
This whole idea is put into the Outposts. When they get Outposts up and working, cities will be easier. Of course, then, if they have cities and outposts that are full of life, they would be expected to overhaul all villages from being static NPC's, and then spend another 1-2 months on it (not meaning it in an insulting way, but it would take longer than this, talking to any mods who see this). So, now to dissect that main post. 1) Would then be impossible to truly get to a capital, unless you cheat in items. 2) Planets are pre-made, and the universe is static. Coordinates would get out and everyone would flock to the city without needing anything. 3) As said above, Outposts are essentially this, and making outposts and cities would have players demand overhaul on all villages and NPC's. 4) Yet again, Outpost, but now you place a chest. 5) Would give not much incentive to go since a lot of people go to the Frog Merchant, buy some bombs, and steal all of the tiles around him, making the trip worthwhile (sorta). BUT, with everything said, I could see this becoming a mod of some sort, using code and taking inspiration from the Outposts, so they can relay it over and add some new visuals and structures.
What does Earth have to do with all this? It could be devoured by 1000 of giant or not giant or even semi-giant monsters. 1)That's was just a suggestion. It's possible to think of an easier way to get there. 2)Wrong. I don't see a reason why in such case everything should be static. By coordinates I meant just an ability to go to the capital. It can be anywhere. And of course, coordinates can be random. I see no issues with it.
Sounds like a good idea, maybe other races could be looked down in other capitals? I think that would be cool...
You obviously don't understand what I am saying. With the world system in place, a coord of, let's say, -293 3843 would be the same with everyone on the same Operating System (Windows, Mac, Linux), so once one person on each OS finds it (probably through cheats), they can leak the coords to everyone. Sure, not everyone would look, but they would definitely be abused. I think the guy is confusing spread-out capital cities with how we have capitals on Planet Earth, where it is the main part of an area. @THE_____ , skid is meaning more like Cities, but bigger ones (hence it being a capital) that are on planets, not just one in the whole of the universe. Pretty much a place where anyone of that race can go instead of just being in their rudimentary village on a random planet.
Hmmmmmmm, well there could be one thing that i can think of, which would be having the main leaders from each civilization, like Greenfinger who i think is a Floran, Big Ape of the Apex, and Thornwing the Avian. So maybe there could be something involving them. And rather than giving coordinates for the planet/city, just provide a transporter to the place with coordinates far beyond the 999999999, 999999999 (which exist but You just can't get their coordinate-wise) so that gets rid of the problem with the universe being static (they might even just make the universe not static later), and then have some kinda special missions involving the big leaders.
This was already mentioned earlier. But so if capital cities were the center of the whole civilization that would add a new concept.
That's what I actually meant. So yeah, not actual coordinates, but ability to travel to this place. And having the main leader of each race there is a pretty nice idea. Sorry guys, I might have missed the outpost thing at all.
Seems like the new Gate that the Devs are boasting about would be able to send you to certain locations, whether it be on a separate planet or inside someplace inside the planet (underneath thousands of blocks of indestructible blocks). If this would work, then you could add this in with the main Questline, where you must find the certain planet, follow clues, and eventually find the ancient civilaztions (or new cities) for each of the main Antagonists/Protagonists in the Race that you chose. EDIT: Gonna send you a PM about a proposition, @skid324 .
This could be solved by unlocking "docking codes" instead, which actually allow you to land on said planet.
That's a possibility too, but two things need to be implemented along with that, which would be that only one person can use a docking code: so now one could use the same code after it's used, and the code cannot be given to someone else before it's used. This way the only way someone can get there is through their own efforts.
Theres also this human commander mentioned in some of the lore named Cassidy Cale i think. She could be involved.
Oh hey, didn't know about her! Okay, so that's 4 outta 7, possibly 8, races! And if leaders are made for the remaining races, then perhaps it could even have race specific missions that give cool goodies!
That would be really cool. Here's what we know about each races homeworld atm. Human - Currently has an enormous tentacle monster living in its core, perhaps humans would be able to access it through the final quest which involves reclaiming Earth? Avian - We know its called Avos, and its ruled by all the Kluex worshippers, that's about it Floran - I don't think we know anything, other then its covered in lush jungles Hylotl - Taken over by the Florans, Hylotl's could have a mission where they'd have to reclaim it Glitch - I don't think we know anything, but I'd image its ruled by their king in a giant castle, or maybe there's many kingdoms warring for rulership? That could be a cool questline, construct your own kingdom and become King of the Glitch. Novakid - No idea Apex - I'd imagine its a futuristic metropolis with very strict laws. Apex questline could be you working for the Miniknog or working with rebels to bring down Big Ape.
While the universe may be static, Capitol Cities might be more dynamic. They just simply aren't there until you gain the ability to go there. The star simply does not show up in Navigation. Alternatively, it may be there but you cannot beam down to it due to not having sufficient privileges. Border control, if you will. You then find not a bunch of books about the city, but earn respect with that race. That in fact sounds more reasonable than having to "Find" an entire civilization's 1 grand capitol city which one would assume be quite open knowledge.
I think it would be cool if you attacked a Avian village for example that would get a warning on your hud saying that the capitol police are hunting you and then you would be tracked and chased through the universe and you would have to hide, pay pixels for your crime, or go to prison.
