Hello, I can't get oil to make steel in any of the worlds in my starter area. I've checked every planet thoroughly and there wasn't any Oil ANYWHERE! i even braved the lifeless asteroids and died, and the moon that has no plant life/oxygen. please help me! i have a weak computer so it takes forever to load new players. and i already have over six hours into this character. There are 2 types of oil. When he said moon - I thought he wanted Ship Fuel. He will find Oil in stable on the desert planet. Itts not always on the surface.
Are you playing unmodded Stable? Are you playing modded Stable? Are you playing Unstable? Are you playing Nightly? I've only ever had this happen to me in Modded Stable - and it was frustrating. You can always /admin /spawnitem steelbar 20 /admin to circumvent this problem and have enough Steel to make your armor. I recommend doing this on the surface of a planet, because if you spawnitems in space around your ship - also frustrating.
You will need to make sure your suit is equipped before going on oxygen less planet. The get the oxygen suit right before entering the first boss area.
He won't be able to face that boss without being able to create steel from said oil. At least in the current Stable version of the game.

Oh yes. This is a good point. I hadn't thought that just checking the surface of each planet or planetoid is not enough.
If you are playing current Stable (not Unstable or Nightly) and can't find oil on the surface of any planet, check below the surface on desert biome planets. In vanilla Spirited Giraffe, oil only spawns on desert worlds and its appearance can be negatively affected by the presence of certain sub-biomes.
