Cant find Silver Ore!

... how far do I have to dig down to get it

 

Same I can not find it

 

I found some near the surface! By 'near the surface' I mean one screen down, and by 'some' I mean one piece. :<

It took me a long while to find iron; I ended up going to another planet to acquire some. I came back to the starting planet once I had enough for a while, whereupon I discovered that a relatively small black spot near my starting point was a dense pocket of the stuff that matched everything I'd managed to gather.

I can only suggest that if it's taking crazy long to find a mineral on one world, try another one. What you're looking for may be more abundant somewhere else.

The higher leveled planet, the more silver that there is. I made about 25 bars of silver after mining in a level 8 world.

 

I had to search a village for most of my silver ore

 

Cant find any either but i shall keep exploring!

 

i landed on a silver-free planet too. kinda a bummer, i ransacked a whole glitch village and came away with tons of great stuff...even platinum!
but no silver.

go deep as heck until you find slush and ice, then you'll find a ton of it, I got 30 bricks from one run

 

On my planet, silver spawned inside blastrock, which has a very similar texture. I only got silver by accident when trying to break through a blastrock wall, i couldn't see it.

It took me about 4 hours before I started finding any good deposits of iron (or silver). I was either unlucky or didn't understand the underground layers very well.

I don't know if the devs set it up this way but I found most of my iron in tar or wet dirt. The fastest way to mine is to find soft soil, like wet dirt, fine sand or gravel. If you don't find this close by try another cave system further out. Once you find the soft stuff dig until you fall into what appears to be the first true underground area, many more resources in these areas. The soft soils really speed things up, I stopped mining in anything but the softer soils for iron, silver, and gold. Once I figured this out I went from finding like 3 to 4 iron ore on a run to around 400 ore on a run.

It seems faster to find another soft soil region and quickly mine it than to dig through normal soil. Although once your at the silver tier on your pick normal soil mines quite quickly.

 

Go to a moon or a higher level planet. On a level 8 moon, once I got past the cold part, I found an iron vein that was about 20-30 ore and I even found a silver vein that was about 15 long.

Moons have higher frequency of ores but they are extremely cold until you tunnel deep enough. Higher level planets have better ores more frequently, and I think the weaker ores on higher level planets are in larger quantity though I could be mistaken.

 

I found the softer soils and tar above the ice layer, so I didn't have to mess with it. Not sure how other planets are structured.

 

Tougher material such as cobble or the next two tiers of cobble aren't too much of a problem once you get a silver or gold pick.

 

iam on the first level1 planet... cant tell you how deep iam (would like to have a device that shows me)

I was down deep where the larger iron veins are and when I first found silver I didn't even realize it until I went back up top. My silver was in cobblestone and it almost blended in perfectly.
