Cannot seem to share Singleplayer Homeplanet

For some reason when I joined my friend's server, my "home planet" had been replaced by a newly generated one.

    1. I played on single player and made myself at home, didn't finish all of the first quests.
    2. Restarted computer for unrelated reasons
    3. Joined a friend's server using the same character.

At this point I noticed the my multiplayer homeplanet was entirely different, so I tried:

    4. Going back into singleplayer and setting my starter planet as my home planet, then going back to multiplayer to navigate to said home planet. However, nothing was set as my home planet in multiplayer so it didn't work.

This is my first play-through, but apparently our home planets are supposed to carry over to multiplayer right? My spaceship and inventory on it carries over, it's just the planet itself that doesn't. My single player data is still unaffected and I can go back to my main base, but it's entirely separated from multiplayer. Is there a way to fix this?

Your single player universe is different from your friend's multiplayer universe. If you go to the same coordinates in both universes, the planets will generate identically, but any changes you made in your SP universe will not show up in the other one.

The good news is that your character is cross-compatible, so if you want to play without starting completely over, just go pick up all the crafting stations and either place them on your ship or carry them to a new planet in the new universe. When it's time to switch back, just repeat the cleanup!
