True, true. But Starbound is alot more lore based than Terraria. Terraria was more based on gameplay. Terraria was very open, there wasn't a lore behind the Wall of flesh, or the Eye of Cthulhu. In Starbound it will start off with a campaign and end with a open world at your disposal. Along your "quest" to find out what happened to your home planet, there will be some background on each race, boss, and some parts of the story line. The Devs. even have a writer for crying out loud, I met him in the forums, cool guy. (btw I apologize if i'm sounding a tad bit rude, or rantish, I just adore the lore of Starbound. )
I've heard that the Floran outcast (player character are all outcast of their race) are those who decided to not eat each others/other races. For single player this would then make no sense or be somewhat contradicting of the main storyline. For mutliplayer RP then I suppose we just ignore the main storyline so not everyone needs to play it outcast. Anyway, not sure if that outcast thing is even true or acurate.
I heard something about the home planet is destroyed and the different races escape. Once again, not sure if that is correct.
That is a good point, but it doesn't really specify on what the Player Floran is does it? It references the somewhat friendly "Florans" of course! Where did you hear that the Player Floran is going to be an outcast (based on storyline). The outcast Floran's you speak of. Their aggressive nature appears to be borne from a lack of a concept of non-plant life as opposed to outright contempt. Owing to their relatively young age as a species, this tenet dominates their culture and justifies their treatment of visiting races, though there are signs of some beginning to question this, implying that Floran individuals might not be inherently “evil” as previously thought. Btw I love your Avatar
I went on some old twitch vids. and yes that I am pretty dang sure that you escape, and the rest of the game is trying to figure out who/what dunnit. Sorry for double posting.
It was also on some info page about the game (the homeworld getting destroyed bit) but of course the game isn't even out yet so can't be certain if that is going to be the proper storyline or if there will be some changes to it.
I care about the lore too, but this is secondary. Would you rather them finish universe generation or cannibalism with their time? ptsss, the right answer is generation
I personally figured this was more talking about if this was going to be in the game at all, most likely sometime during post-release. I think most of us want the developers to spend their time working on the base of the game first and foremost (which they seem to be) with suggestions/questions like these being for when they are implementing things to make the world feel more vibrant.
Lol I know that. It's not like the whole game is going to hinge on that culinary recipe. Can you blame a guy for a simple suggestion? And anyways, they have been working on recipes for awhile now. I'm not a child thinking that the whole game should be what I think. I was just asking about that piece of the lore, and how it will be implemented into the game. The reason I mentioned Terraria is because the game dev's spent more time on creating a new boss or a new item, than working on something that sticks with the player (Like Starbound) Maybe that wasn't the angle they were going for who knows? Also I'm not expecting them to even CONSIDER putting some of these in, it's their game were the community. Only thing is sometimes they do add some things in the middle of the development that seems relevant at the time , that comes from the community. For example a cool guy I know named Bacon (you guys might know him) suggested speech bubbles that got real popular, and now that comes into the game.
I was exaggerating I realize, I wasn't trying to say that. Ya I realize what you were trying to say, I realize that it could make it in the games, and I'm okay with that. Like I said above, I have no problem with the idea, I just think something purely for roleplaying could be added later after the initial release.
Yeah, small miscommunication there. That's really what the suggestions are for, just making legitimate ideas and putting them out to the public for future use if needed/wanted. Thanks for putting up with my crap.
