Cannibalism? Eating other races? (Florans

Ewwwwwwwwwwwwwww. Course, as a novakid, I would start cooking human and forget halfway through and think its just avian or chicken.

I thought about it a little, what if it was inclusive for Florans.
Like Florans have little to no chance to getting sick after eating, and all other races (except Glitch/Nova). (I still don't know what they eat.)
And eating people is an ability I guess? Also it's not exactly uncommon for games now adays to have cannibals. ME3 Cannibal (yes they are called that), Minecraft zombie flesh, Skyrim (Namira's blessing), Red dead, Fallout 3/ New Vegas, Telltales walking dead, etc.
It is Starbound though, they could make comical recipes I guess.
Anyone got ideas?

That is true, but zombies from Minecraft are i think considered to not be technically human (they try to kill you and are undead anyway), a lot of the other games have a much darker theme to them then what would appear to be meant for Starbound. Maybe some light cannibalistic jokes (like i said earlier) like "A box of Avian tenders - Juicy white meat tenders, don't worry they are not made out of Avians and are named for their shape." or "Floran salad - A salad named for it's intense spicy bite. Not actually made of Floran, though they do have strong bite to them to... just not flavor wise." All this talk of man eating plants is reminding me of that Splunky mod that makes you into a man eating plant with the ability to... well eat everything.

 

Don't forget that things like Disney all have dark references in them. However I do guess they are above young children's understanding... Or hidden. The dust in The Lion King. Pause it in the perfect spot? *sigh* Disney Wai.

Anyways, to my point. I think the dishes should include other races. Albeit I think they should be SUBTLE things like... in the way the food looks. Like maybe a salad having a little black dot in it. Some would argue that it's an olive. Others would say it's a Floran's eyeball. Just subtle things that could be taken as devouring races/ tasty condiments. I don't like olives... They're gross Q_Q

 

That thing from the Lion King? That was just...unexpected. But that's beside the point. I think you're cannibalistic idea here is the best compromise. Do things in a subtle way. I think that's the best way to go.

Idk, I wouldn't care if they at least had something in game that touched on that part of the lore.
Also there's tons of myths in Disney, some of them are actually true.
Like there "used" to be a naked chick in the rescuers.

 

It's like in The Wizard of Oz. They say you can see a Munchkin hang itself in the background while they're skipping and singing the yellow brick road.

Of course, I've never seen it, it's just little things to create speculation. So many games make references to inappropriate stuff, yet most people don't catch it.

Humans don't eat birds? What about the 49 billion chickens humans eat each year worldwide? And that doesn't even include turkey etc!

 

My guess is that they were thinking more of the wild and domestic birds when they thought of avians rather then chicken and turkey

 

I think chickens are fairly civilized.

 

I knew quite a few people who had pet chickens. I hear they are pretty good pets.

 

I had a friend who had a pet Guinea (I count chickens smarter than them, they attack snakes.)
And he raised his from an egg, and one day he witnessed it get run over by the Schoolbus.

There will be almost no cases in the game where you'll be so hungry that you have to resort to eating another person, there are like 13,000 different food items.

 

I wouldn't even be mentioning this if there weren't a reason.

It's not that I just want to eat people, It's written in stone that Florans eat people.

I think it'd be a waste of development time honestly. I don't care if it's something they'd add after the "full" release, but it's nothing they should be worrying about now.
