Can you still find your ship on a planet?

So I remember that back then in a previous version of starbound you could find your ship by going up on the planet you were orbiting. Does anyone know if this is still possible? And if so how?

 

I don't believe so but if this is still in game just get a stack of dirt and pillar up, with this I have made it to the asteroids, I haven't gone further as I did't know it was possible to reacher your ship.

Well since you can no longer see the planet in the background when you reach a certain height, I suppose you can't find your ship too, both things must have been removed.

 

I wonder, why do they remove these things? They were such cool addons

 

What? As far as I know, that was a myth. The game has always handled the ship as it's own instance, like the ship is a planet all it's own.
