Can we still play the early beta?

I always wanted to play starbound. i have been playing ever since the day i got the game. I have followed its development since the early beta. but due to the time i purchased the game, I could never play the early beta...Witch brings me to my question, Is the beta, REALLY EARLY BETA of starbound still playable? If so, how would i go about doing that? Last time i tried asking this question a few months ago i was never answered, so Im hoping someone can help me here.
