I know we got a big content patch coming in a few days but can we PLEASE get a emergency hotfix or the 3d printers just temp taken out the game and duped items nuked/removed. So many servers I join just have everyone duping everything ( via exploit not use ) and skipping entire tiers with duped "quest" items and being given duped armors. I won't go into details about how to do this but I will say just about anyone with a pulse has been shown this method.

I personally, don't feel like it's an issue that needs to be addressed as much as other bugs currently in the game. I could also argue as to how it affects you at all, or why it matters. Most of the servers I've been on no one seemed to have actually been duping or even known how to because everyone was still sitting around in alpha.

That said, seeing as duping allows you to quickly advance from tier to tier, assuming the players are actually spending some time in each sector, it allows for more testing to be done for higher level sectors that might not have otherwise been noticed for quite a while due to the difficulty curve.

It will be fixed, dont worry about it, its not a really that urgent since it doesnt affect you at all, sure you can come across someone who exploit that bugs, but only if you accept a party with them.
Just remember that this is Beta, expect to see a lot of exploits and glitches (like blocking bosses, attacking throu walls and all that).

its not really a big deal at this stage since the character wipes

Sorry my post didn't apply to you, and yes I agree with you completely about the beta angle and I am not screaming "FIX YOUR GAME" I am merely saying this particular bug is game breaking beyond the level of making a boss a bit easier and its definitely something that should be hotfixed ASAP and the angle that it allows bugs to be found by getting to higher levels of the game when people are not actually testing the part of the game to get you there is beyond moronic.

Except for the fact that if people hadn't been doing this, people wouldn't have noticed that you wouldn't be able to find platinum by natural, and reliable means on any planet lower than level 38(or 34, can't remember which) Which is a resource you need to be able to even get to planets with a threat level of 38(or 34) I believe it is? Meaning the only way to reliably be able to get to the next sector would be to just hope you find platinum in chests, or pray to god you find it near the cores of planets.

IT IS A FREAKING BETA, why ... why do you even care if ppl dupe shit ... it's ... it's pointless because we will see a few whipes. Why the hell people keep fucking opening this goddamn threads for crappy reasons. This fucking forum is a total mess becaouse everyone think that this is a full game release; jesus fuck it's a beta, your goddam duty is to fucking find and report bugs, not fucking scream because you find missing shit or "gameplay breaking bugs", fucking report them and MOVE ALONG.

My thread is here because I have seen no official word in regards to this and I am well aware it is a beta hence why we should be testing the game you god damn moron and making sure attention is brought to the most game breaking problems. Jesus christ the level of irony in your post blows my mind.

Play by yourself or host a server with just you and your friends... I mean this is a bug that needs to get fixed (and should be relatively easy to fix) but the devs are working more on balancing the game right now than solve a bug that some people are exploiting in a beta where all characters are going to get wiped soon anyway... If anything, the dupe bug does allow players to quickly test content too so... yeah.

Not seeing this as a real emergency. Although I'm kinda shocked this bug survived the last patch... Kinda figured since it was so well known and a most likely easy fix it would've been one of the included fixes, haha.

Also there is no way to my knowledge to be able to know what items are duped or not, but since a character wipe is coming anyway, you can be certain that duped items are going to be eliminated within the next two days.

All these people so mad for requesting their favorite exploit be fixed. I don't think we're focusing on tier progression at the moment, but accessibility of the program. I doubt chuckle fish has tested on every PC and Mac setup prior to this, so that's where their focus lies. And I can assure you their idea of testing different tiers isn't bypass all the content with dupe bugs so you can view unfinished content. When they do it'll likely be smooth progression one tier at a time.

Those so heavily in favor of "my dupe bug lets me see all the game" just don't feel like playing what has been given them.

This is my point exactly, as beta testers the most important thing we should be testing is the progression of tiers and the process involved in doing so, not how the endgame mobs work while you are wearing your endgame armor and weps that your friends gave you with no incentive to do any of the actual "grinding". Sure there will be char wipes, that is part of playing in beta, it does not entitle you to play in Dev mode and was not what you signed up to do so its hilarious the level of people that think it is some given right just because they will lose their char soon ( something you accepted when you wanted early access to the game )

I wouldn't expect much if any anti-cheat measures during this stage of beta. Anti-cheating measures usually involve obfuscation which in turn makes it harder to generate constructive error reports. I would not recommend playing early-betas with people you do not trust.

While i believe that people exploiting are not hurting anybody but themselves it should still be hotfixed.

Because it could actually hurt the beta and the game, simply because said exploiters are skipping content, content that could still need polishing and testing, testing that they won't do because they for some reason are in a rush to cheat.

But bugs aside, their opinion and feedback would be incredibly skewed, since they in reality would not be able to give feedback on progression and balance.
And out of experience i just know that there will be a few exploiters who won't be able to keep their mouth shut when it comes to that, they might complain about lack of content down the line or even balance.

The first example that pops in my head was with Skyrim release, the forums were flooded with complains of the game being too hard UNTIL by coincidence the flood of complains turned to the game being too easy once the crafting loop exploit was one of the most popular thread.

So yes, i agree with OP the exploit should be fixed hopefully sooner then later especially since it's beta, if a new exploit is found once the game is balanced and launched, then let the cheaters keep their exploits.

Really? You gotta be kidding right?
Is this a poor trolling attempt?

In a mostly PvE game, that probably will not have servers and protection against third party software (editors, hacks, trainers, etc), and in which what others have affects your game experience in absolutely nothing, you want them right now to focus their development time solving a "dupe issue"?

It's not even a problem per se.

For all we care, with editors and cheats/hacks, people can get whatever they want. It's the same thing in Terraria or Minecraft. Unless the game is online only, and has servers, there's not much of a point in worrying with "cheats" like this.

I'm all for having the game mechanics work within boundaries, because if it is too easy to do duping (without having to download a third party software, edit, etc), if there's absolutely no work involved, it kinda pulls the players into that path of least resistance, and don't get me wrong, I'm all for eliminating exploit-like paths of least resistance (!!!) - just not now.

And regarding the "we gotta be testing early-game" argument.

First, just because these people are testing the higher level content, doesn't mean they didn't provide feedback on the earlier levels (I've seen a dozen posts from people who are at Aegisalt gear regarding early game); second, the changes being made (on an almost daily basis?) are proof enough that people are giving feedback on the early game, and the devs are making the proper changes. It's not like this "issue" is causing all feedback to be lost -.-

For the duration of the early beta multiplayer balance will probably not be a big issue, I'd imagine. You can play single player or with people you know or with people that you meet that play the way you like to play without problems, so it's not getting in the way of too much gameplay.

The game is designed to have modding. It has also client side saving and is expected as such to have a variety of ways to cheat, such as save editors.

We got the same crap over at Terraria in the first initial weeks and even mods that were against save editors until they realized the stupidity of it all.

There will be servers later with server side characters, I'm sure, but even then, outside of those servers, you can do whatever the hell you want and so can everybody.

So lets not start pretending again like Terraria. Those duping exploits are about the most unimportant thing out there but I have seen a few people blow them out of proportion. OH NO, PEOPLE I CAN PLAY WITH CAN CHEAT!

Deal with it. Its exactly how the game is. That it is a dupe or a cheat changes absolutely nothing at the moment. Neither Terraria or Starbound were ever intended to be Diablo-like.

I never said "please devote all your attention to this issue" I suggested just removing the 3d printer or stop non intended items going in there like ore for example. I get your speech about anti cheat stuff but that isn't the case here it is one of the most simple exploits there is built into the game mechanics. I do not wish for this to become top priority but merely asked for a stop gap if nothing else. People that will dupe past content have already taken the easy path out of grinding matts so they are not going to start doing it in the endgame. The very nature of this exploit makes it VERY easy to remove and I just want to make sure there is attention being drawn to it, some people ( not yourself ) seem to get very defensive over that fact though.
