Can We Go To Earth As Well?

Sorry if this is an obvious or stupid question (or both) but will we be able to go to Earth and other nearby planets to Earth? If so, I'm guessing there will obviously be Earth like biomes right? Is there any chance of a hidden Gallifrey easter egg? That brings me to an extra question, nor Terraria or Minecraft had easter eggs, will Starbound?

 

I can't answer your main question, but as to your extra question - I read somewhere that Starbound may have easter eggs (or cameos: as seen in this thread)

 

Well, if Humans home-planet is Earth. Then kinda.

You Start your story mode into your race-home planet, in a Tutorial / Story Intro, then you fix your ship to run away and Start your adventure.
And since your home-planet is getting destroyed, it's Unlikely you will be able to visit it again.

 

There's no reason to assume that Earth exists in the Starbound universe.

 

No reason? Not even the fact said that each Race (Humans) start in their race-home planet? In Story Mode.

 

Humans in a work of fiction aren't required to be the same as humans in real life.

 

Still there's a reason to assume that Earth exist, a possibility not confirmed, we need to know if Humans are some race around the Universe, or if they are Us in the Future.

Well, I found it odd that the humans, along with the Hylotl, was the only race to not have its background revealed. Since it seems that the team has plans concerning the story, it will be interesting to see what surprises they have for us.

Also, they said "unlikely". So, I guess that if the Earth is the home planet of humans in Starbound, we maybe will be able to visit it (or rather, what's left of it; after all, if they did only show planets and moons thus far, it's entirely possible that we will be able to visit some asteroids at some point, or remains of a planet, like Earth, though I guess it may be limited to a potential story-arc).

 

Even if not, I'm willing to bet there's one coordinate somewhere in the universe that is a lot like earth.

 

I believe it's story mode only. Because all universe being pre-generated like it is, and it changes when new updates come in, etc... It won't be possible to visit the X Coordinates Planet and it remains the same. Unless, some part of the Universe is Scripted, but that's unlikely.

I find Earth to be unlikely as a normal, visitable planet. The scope of reasonably representative world may be well over what is planned for planets. I also would like to remind people that it's far future/alternative dimension. As Luna mentioned, humans in Starbound's universe may not have originated on Earth. And even if they did, I find it very probable that by the time 'current age' of game's world rolls in, they have long abandoned the planet and spread.

Anyway, there's no official dev word on that but to be honest, I hope that our star system won't be in game. Though I am sure there will be many Earth-like worlds.

 

if the soundtracks that you get from pre-ordering are in game i believe that at least sol will be in game so earth is also likely if it isn't destroyed via storymode

Maybe earth (or sol) has been forgotten as a the origin of the human race, and the "Home world" is a capitol of sorts that most of the humans just ended up settling on. And maybe the original "earth" plays a part in the story line. Food for thought.

 

Maybe the entire game takes place on earth, and we're just insanely small.

I think it should be a secret location like in Spore, but with a unique mission and enemies.
