Can we get internal testing before you put things into the beta testers?

think im using tier 1 the wrong way.

i mean the first weapon you can craft

Still, the team has ways to acquire rapidly items to quickly test the first stages, so yeah, this particular aspect could have been easily spotted.

this happened because so many people were being impatient for this patch release.
    Myself included.

Well, lesson learnt. Let's work together this time!

"But it's beta!" is often a reasonable response to a criticism here.

In this case, it's not. OP is absolutely right. It could use some more internal testing before release.

honestly, I would have preferred if they fixed the crashes instead of revamping the whole weapon/battle system
it was fine the way it was before the patch, if you ask me

    Vandal783 Yeah, You!

Your absolutely right. The developers should have gone out and purchased enough hardware/OS Software to then build every possible PC configuration so as to test for this...

What can I tell... I'm programmer myself and have seen much bigger bugs going to production servers ;P.

Sure, something that obvious SHOULD NOT be over sought, but you see, devs are also people. They work under pressure, they try to push updates ASAP, they work instead of having weekend and free time required to relax. People do mistakes in such conditions. It is easy to blame them - and you are technically right - but let's have some empathy :). Tiy stated it very explicitly that big bugs may happen during early beta; and they do unfortunately. There is no other way but to get over it or wait till game enters next beta stage.

I wish people would stop throwing around the word "Beta" like it's an excuse for half-assing your work.

This is possibly the most right thing anyone has posted in this thread.

It's been out for about 5 days, stop acting like it is a finished game.

I slightly agree. This patch was kind of... terrible. Yes it's a beta, but I one shot every creature in a sector, your steel weapon is 50 times stronger than the iron, etc etc.

Also mini-bosses, shops, and chests haven't been changed, therefore providing you with the crappiest weapons possible with lvl 1 stats.

Wow this whole argument is fairly ridiculous. First off, they probably do have internal testers and the like, things get missed. especially considering how much random generation there is. Beta and Alpha etc are just terms, there is no right or wrong way to conduct what goes on. You were warned if events like this well ahead of time.

NO BODY SPENT MONEY FOR THE BETA. you spent money for the game, all cf has to do is deliver the game and you got what you bought. You do not have the right for minor bugs only play
seriously some of the hostility towards the devs is disgraceful. people demanding getting their os port fixed, demanding that optimization is priority. The reason you have access to the beta is to HELP chucklefish make a great game, not to GET a great game from the start,

No, I would rather they spend their entire time and resources on fixing bugs and adding new feature. We are the testers, we have volunteered to test the game. It is our privilege to get to play it before it is released.

Also it will have had internal testing. They just didn't pick up on whatever bug you are upset about.

i'm not sure how you come to the conclusion the the game isn't being tested internally before an update.
the problem is that the dev team is to small to find each and every bug during their testing. you say it took you 5 minutes to find a "glaring issue", but i'm sure there are a hundred other people who didn't run into that issue after several hours in the game. they on the other hand might have found some "glaring issue" that you haven't come across yet. and i'm pretty sure the devs ran into some "glaring issues" too, and they fixed them. especially in a game with such a huge amount of randomness involved, most bugs just won't occur to everyone. if they could find all of the bugs themselves, what would even be the point of this beta phase?

Yeah? If you get a good spawn, it's not hard to stat making weaponry in the first 5 or 10 minutes.

At any rate, Chucklefish needs better testing. If not for us or on principle, then to save themselves the trouble of dealing with idiot children on the forums talking about how shit Chucklefish is and how they don't know what they're doing. After all, everyone is a game designer/developer savant.

With the rise of indie devs and early access the understanding of "beta" and all these terms is undergoing a great change in my opinion.
And to be honest I welcome every bug or problem because after all that means we as community are involved.

The last patch was obviously rushed because too many people demanded to get it as fast as possible since it included a complete wipe and much more qq.

I think a team is a unneeded. Tiy had a 19 hour work shift so he was pretty tired. Also we are still in stage 1 so you should expect the game to be buggy. So go sit in a corner until they fix it.
