Can vines regrow?

I've made it a habit to leave a small part of the vines I cut down for them to regrow - but after a while, I've noticed that some of them are exactly as I left them - not having grown at all.

Do they grow at all after being cut down?

 

Its been a long time since I played SB, but if I recall you have to be near the vines for them to grow. So, if you cut a vine under your base and leave it while you do stuff around the base, it will grow. If you cut it halfway around the world and leave it while you are away, it will not grow.

I could be totally wrong about that. Like I said, its been a while. But its an easy theory to prove/disprove.

And, since its not worth its own thread let me just say: I am dying over here! Release the game already, would ya? lol

 

Wait, there's the possibility that vines do regrow?

 

As far as I know I have personally yet to see any vine regrow; no matter how much of it I left behind.

Would be nice if true though. In the current stable I don't think it is the case though. If it has been changed in the one to be released, I haven't seen it yet; or well notice it doing so. I guess that is why farming can amount into getting fiber. So there is a renewable way to get fiber. That or visiting several jungle like planets... with all the shrubs.

Unless I see this for myself I am going to assume no.

 

Can confirm ocean planets are also good sources of fibres thanks to tall grasses found on islands surfaces.

 

I don't think that they regrow. but I'm not so sure about that. I try and find out.... soon.

 

Semi-related but I like the fact the flowery vines actually give you flower petals. Would make a great source of of them if you could just grow vines as you need them for dyes. I wish the other vine types gave special items as well, iirc the eyeball vines on alien planets doesn't even give you eyeball blocks which is kinda lame. Sure I would most likely drop them or sell them for 0 pixels but at least the vine that had eye balls would act like such and not just be a graphical reskin.

 

It seem to be the case with most themed vines now actually.
Mushroom vines actually give mushrooms.
Those vines with bones stuck in them found in bone biomes also seem to give bones too now.

 

I believe mushroom vines were always a thing. The bone one I wasn't aware of though but given the large amount of bone "blocks" just out and about it isn't like it is that hard to collect anyway.
