    What the title says........... Prime example of one tablet in particular is Windows Surface Pro. It can use pc programs, and run steam games. But do you guys think it can run Starbound?

    Specs:
    Windows 8 Pro
    GPU: Intel HD Graphics 4000
    4gb ram
    Dual core 1.7 ghz Intel core i5
    64 gb storage
    2 usb ports with attachable keyboard screen cover

    Reason bringing it up is that I might be looking into this since in College and needing something with faster start up then my laptop and is lighter and easier note taking/ programming on the fly.

  2. Spec-wise, it looks about the same as the Macbook Air Tiy uses, so maybe.

  4. It's worth a shot I suppose, I know nothing about Windows tablets. If you decide to give it a go please post with your findings.

    Hi,

    Starbound works really well on the surface pro 2 no lag stutters or anything noteworthy.

    Hope you found this helpful remember I am talking about the surface pro 2 here if you have a original pro you might have a different experience

    It will probably run it just fine.

    That said, I would not buy an x86 tablet.
    In fact, I wouldnt buy a tablet at all.

    I'll take an ultraportable over a tablet any day.

    I'd take anything over a tablet any day.
    I'm going to be royally pissed if this "Tablets are the new laptops!!!" trend continues.

    I do know for a fact that Windows Surface Pro can run Batman Arkham Origins on the lowest settings.
    My friend managed to do that. [Though I find it horribly silly]

    Its a question of optimization at this point.

    How are you supposed to get the keyboard part of the controls on a tablet interface? :/ you can't do everything in the game by clicking on things.

    The tablet OP is talking about has a keyboard attachment

    I play Starbound on my Sony Vaio Duo 13 Laptop. Rain can slow it down a little but otherwise completely playable. Infact Ive put 30 hours of Starbound in on my tablet, so yeah, super playable

    Install and then run it LOL. I did not have to do anything special to get it running.

    If you mean how do you play it on a tablet, Mine is a DUO and so it folds out to reveal a full size keyboard.

    So long as it is not running Windows RT, and is running Windows x64/x86, which it should be given the specs of the processor, it should likely run Starbound alright. The HD 4000 isn't going to be smooth as a dedicated graphics card, but it should work.

    The controls would be horrid, and no, I am never interested in buying a tablet.
    Desktops are good for gaming.
    Laptops are good for browsing.
    Netbooks are good for travelling.
    Tablets are...

    I have an Asus tablet that has a full version of Window 8 on it and it will not run this game.

    ...the evolution of netbooks, especially as you can usually connect a keyboard and mouse when needed. Although netbooks and laptops went and had children, which is where the "ultrabook" variants started to come around and about.

    ~~~
    Do you mean that it won't run it at a playable level, or that the game doesn't run at all? Can you also post the specs, or at least the model number?
    My Tablet is good for Gaming, Browsing, Travelling, Watching Movies, you name it. People jump to conclusions on tablets way to quickly.
    My tablet runs Skyrim, The Dead Linger, Dota 2, Euro Truck Simulator 2, NFS Hot Pursuit, Nether, Off-Road Drive, Outlast, Real World Racing, Rust, Sanctum, State of Decay, Dirt 2, Grid 2, Rage, Stalker, COD:Black Ops 2, Battlefield 3, IL-2 Sturmovik, RISK. I could go on, but I cant remember the name of the other games :p
    Every one of them at 720p or higher
    It's this one: http://www.amazon.com/VivoTab-Smart-ME400C-C1-BK-10-1-Inch-Tablet/dp/B00AA6OVLI
    I can install it and get the launcher, but the game never gets past "loading" or whatever that screen is before the main menu.
    EDIT: I can run Terraria on it even though it is a little laggier than on my PC or laptop. (I know the engines are different and this game is not optimized yet, but just wanted to throw that out there.)
