As the title says, I can launch servers just fine, had friends who were playing on it while I was off at a job interview. They said it ran fine, The problem is that I cannot launch starbound, independent or adjacent the server. I click the "Launch Starbound" button, and get no response. I even clicked the button before I left for the interview, came back, and no game.

I haven't changed anything since it worked last night. Put the computer to sleep while I was sleeping, woke up, and it didn't work. No updates, no new installs, no changes to files.

Edit: I am running Windows 7 Professional 64-Bit.

Same here, but it never worked for me. I just bought it and when I wanted to play, it didn't work. I've got Windows 7 Home Premium 64 Bit. There's a starbound process though, which appears as often as I click the launch button.

The starbound process never happens for me. I don't even get the little loading wheel on my cursor. The LAUNCHER has a process, and the Server has a process... but the game itself does not ever appear for me.

...could we just do away with the launcher business?

Mmh... I ran "Steam\SteamApps\common\Starbound\win32\starbound.exe" as administrator and it worked, but now my chucklefish screen froze...

All the files in my starbound folder are set to run as administrator, which resolved an earlier issue in regards to running a server.

I have also tried copying that one .dll file into the launcher file as was suggested in a different thread with a similar issue, to no avail.

Forced the game to reinstall, still no help.

my solution to the problem was to turn off the "Run as Administrator" thing. I need to have that ON to run a server, but I cannot launch the game unless it's off.

Thank you, you totally fixed the same problem.
I was hosting a server, then couldn't open Starbound again the next day.
    Thank you :)

Edit: I left the server itself to open as Admin (Not Starbound.exe, the server .exe) and can now do both just fine.

It was exactly the opposite for me, I had to run it as administrator. ;)

  13. This is a placebo yes, not the real solution to the problem.

Well the "Placebo" worked for me too.

As part of other troubleshooting I set the .exe to run as admin in compatibility. After this my start button on the launcher didn't work. I found this thread on google, unset the admin option, and it's working.

Damn good placebo, I'd recommend it to anyone.

This didn't work for me, I've tried all sorts of combinations of compatibility modes (or lack thereof) and admin mode (or lack thereof) and it still does nothing when I click "Launch Starbound". Can we get rid of the launcher? It's causing more trouble than it's worth. Or at least have some way to just launch the game directly when your launcher serves more as a brick wall than a door.

I have all the right specs for running the game but it freezes as i open then spends 25-30 minutes loading and half the time it never does start responding and crashes my laptop. Has anybody else had these problems and if so how do i solve them? Ive been really looking forward to playing but so far, nothing.

How do you turn off "run as admin"? Because I've looked all over the launcher and cant find anything remotely related to turning that off or even any settings
