I'll put it on the list but I'm not going to make any promises. I have a lot of things on my plate.

 

Is there any chance you could do a recolor of Carbuncle for the FFXI version? It'd also be the FF8 version as well.



As you can see, you'd only really need to change the colors, not resprite.

So the answer is yes.
Besides changing the color I was planing on respriting the tail as well to match them.

I would like to hear your input on something though.
For the recolor should I keep the forehead gem as it is, or go with the large one that these guys have? I was having a hard time deciding.

 

I'd say the larger one, because the green carbuncle always has a large forehead gem. And the orange one seems to have the same size.

 

I love Carbuncle!
As for the gem, since you already plan to resprite the tail, then I would love if you could edit the gem as well, to be larger.

just an idea for the distant future and if you're into that.. how about komasan,jibanyan, maybe hungramps from yokai watch ^^

 

In terms of design Komasan and Jibanyan look interesting so maybe.
I don't know if I want to make hungramps though, it's kind of weird lol

Not sure how great it looks but I tried my best to replace the gem glow with something that looks like this. It was a lot harder to animate than I thought.


I still need some time for the green Carbuncle. Mainly it's the head that I'm trying to figure out. Don't know if I should include the feathery thing on the top of his head.

Oh wow. The blue one is amazing! (Though it looks like it matches both the green and blue in color, which is hard to pull off, haha)

 

OMG! The hardest part about this mod is trying to decide which one to use because they are all sooooooo awesome! But because I am a huge Final Fantasy fan at least for now I will have to go with Carbuncle. Thank you so much for adding it and thanks to the person who requested it.

 

Besides for recolors no one actually requested Carbucle. It was just something I wanted to do after playing the FF15 Platinum demo and seeing how cute Carbuncle was.

The only thing that matches really is the blue on the ear. The green one uses green and an odd yellow instead of the aqua and dark blue.

 

This is just a very quick concept sketch and nothing more.
Doesn't mean I'll commit to making this or any of the Yokai stuff, but just seeing if it's possible.

One thing that is hard to get right is those type of eyes.
It's hard to make it look exactly like it does in the picture without it looking very off.


I should be working on the current thing but I just got distracted for a sec when I was searching up what Yokai Watch was.

 

Oooh, well my husband saw it first and I immediately went crazy for it. Had to have it. I think he felt the same. So sorry for that misunderstanding. But omg the Carbuncle is so adorable. I especially love how it will do the shiny thing once in awhile.

 

Added: Carbuncle Green



I decided not to add the feathery fur on the top of his head. I just couldn't get it to work out.
The color scheme was also something I had a bit of trouble with. Each reference picture I looked at used slightly different shades.

Anyways I'm kind of Carbuncle'd out. I'm always more excited about making new stuff instead of recoloring.

The next thing I'm going to try and make is a Moogle.

Odd question, any chance you'd ever consider doing Gatomon from Digimon?

Or Luna/Artemis/Diana from Sailor Moon?

 

I'll get back to you on Gatomon when I get around to making a concept sketch of it.

As for the Sailor Moon cats probably not because Jinxiewinxie already made one.

There are also so many moogle iterations that it's hard to pinpoint a specific design that I want to use.
