Because NOBODY can be bothered finding a vendor and spending pixels to bring home the bacon. Or the rib meat. Or whatever. The point being, you should be able to craft bacon and rib meat and whatever else is required (not meat chunks, those are made by re-cooking meat). Also, flesh lumps should be easier to obtain.
Somthing along the lines of 1 uncooked alien meat could be cut into 2 ribs or 3-4 bacon at a butchers table?
