sure enough, when you want to colonise a barren planet you'll need to build structures to survive there. I think a good way for structures to be built, is that you'll need an orbital relay on your home planet, and from then when you arrive on a new planet, you pull out a device from your pocket (a keypad maybe?) and select the building you want. From there, a missile pod will fly down from your ship, and land on the planet. then, it start auto constructing itself and depending on a building it will take a long or short time to build, but there can be any enemies nearby. TL;DR: you call down buildings from your ship and they build themselves over time. you cant do it when enemies are nearby.
That's interesting, though I think there should be a blueprint planner letting you customize buildings, and make them how you want in a Spore like manner. So when you do decide build the way you suggest, you can pick between all the blueprints you made, and it'll tether a bunch of "recommended" items to that list so you can build something that will look best on the planet.
yea great idea! I think it would also be an awesome idea if you could choose the colour scheme of your buildings and armour, and you could design your own banner/Symbol which would be placed on all your building and Mechs!
thats definitely something else I'd like to see, banners, and symbols that you can customize. Let people online know what's yours and what isn't.
Sounds really nice! Maybe this should be an upgradeable option, not available right from the start! You could have to buy it first, or find blueprints of buildings scattered across the universe, or something like that!
What if the blueprints could be shared online? Granted you still need to feed the materials into the building robot but if you can afford it you can take and change many great designs right of the internet and build it on your home planet. You can also mark a plot with special torches and convert that into a blueprint!
those are both great ideas! and maybe you would start with a base building e.g, barracks for soldiers, command centre for production, science lab for research, and then you could find blueprints for different building add ons, which give attributes to the buildings. Example: you have a regular barracks, which can only produce basic guards and small weapons. but maybe when you find blueprints for an electronics core (or power grid, etc.) you can get power weapons (lasers, energy swords) and the barracks could now produce power suits for guards (an upgrade, maybe called power guards?) Example 2: lets say you have a robotics bay, which produces basic defence turrets and mechs, but when you attach a combustion reactor, you can have upgraded missile turrets and missile mechs! AWESOME IDEA IS AWESOME?
that's actually very interesting notion, I wonder how massive things can become. The screen size isn't too big after all, unless they decide to let high rez screens pull back the pixels a bit. I'd really like to see npc defenders and such for larger scale multiplayer battles with less people.
I like the idea of having pre-built buildings that I can launch from HQ to a new planet, this will make colonization so much faster. The concept of buildings that work cooperatively would a new layer of depth to the game as you would have to balance the positioning of all of your buildings to optimize efficiency of the area that is used.
Is there any word on what kind of scaling for construction will be available? As in; being able to say "auto populate this planet with buildings" , or "place this building here", or can we even build a single house block by block
it has been under speculation, but we do know you can build block by block. The only thing we don't know is how big these 'blueprints' will be.
