Building on Moons

Hello TMan here! I have been trying to build on a moon lately after sadly being unable to find a purple planet to make my homeworld.

So far the only things I have found to give off heat are torches and campfires.

I also noticed that being inside of a dungeon (or something like that) allowed me to stay warm and without freezing my fluffy bird butt.

I would like to build a structure that lets me stay warm, and is able to support life on a moon.

Should building something with walls and a background work? Not sure how to go about this.

If anybody else has some info on moon building please share, I don't want to freeze

Here is what I have so far...

Campfires, fully enclosed spaces (Put background materials in every square of your structure, even inside the walls), Snow Infantry armor, and Space Heaters (Radiator looking things you find in prison colonies and human facilities) are pretty much your keys to a comfortable and warm life on the moon biome.

Unfortunately the only way to keep warm is heat sources/really high tech armour. The best heat source I know of are space heaters, but I'm not sure where to get them from.
    Edit: Ninja'd by above.

Okay thanks guys/gals, I was hoping the enclosed space would be enough but I am okay with putting in a few heat sources :, I'll respond with results later!

The Tier 1 leather armor should keep you warm until the wipe. Consider getting burning embers to inlay inside the walls of your base. Heating systems!

Ah never knew those gave off heat....hmm might have some fun with that after the wipe since SI armor suffices for heat everywhere except for the space biomes.

Sadface, ran out of glass, good thing you can use sand in a smelter for more!

Okay so I've made this building here, fully walled and even background blocks behind the solid ones. Yet I leap up from the torches and temperature still starts to drop.

I never been on a moon (mostly just waiting on the wipe before I do anything) but as others have said try getting snow infantry armor, it would at least keep you warm on a snow planet without even needing a torch.

    How do I get leather?

there is a purple moon at x -728 y -415 , it's warm enough during the day that you don't need heat and there is a floran town there too. also level 3 so you should be able to take it.

Torches are extremely bad at giving off heat. Enclosed spacing makes it easier to retain heat, not eliminate the need for heat sources, use Space Heaters or Campfires or Snow Infantry armor to not freeze (same use, different aesthetic).

Kill common enemies with a Hunting Knife or Hunting Bow.

Just kill monsters with any hunting weapon so the knife or bow. Any level works so go to a level 1 planet and slaughter everything with an iron bow.

Florian dungeons tend to have those burning coal blocks, which I believe give heat.

You can use space heaters and radiators to keep you warm too.
