    Hi! :)

    I'm just getting a huge frame-rate issue.
In the ship I'm absolutely fine, including the main-menu. It's when I beam down to a planet, I start to get really low FPS.
If I could guess, I'm getting around 5-10 frames a second.
    • Windows 7
    • GTX 560TI
    • AMD 4100 quad-core (3.6)
    • 8gb ram
I know it's in beta etc, etc...
It's a bug so I might as well report it! ;)

I have a 560 Ti also with an i5-2400 and not really having too much issues besides some drops. Sometimes alt-tabbing in and out fixes my issue. Also try to add Starbound to your real-time AV scanner exceptions, some Anti-Virus software lags bad when it scans in real-time, or try disabling steam overlay.

    ATI HD 7970 3GB

Nothing. Disabled firewall, updated drivers, allowed admin, restarted, removed overclocks.
No idea on what's causing it.

Hi All, steam forums might have found a lag answer. Turning off compatability modfe on my steam shortcut and running as admin solved the lag for me. Good luck

    Try this,

    For Windows users:

Go to your starbound directory: Steam\steamapps\common\Starbound\win32 and try launching the game with the starbound_opengl.exe instead of the regular executable.

For me the game is capped at 30 fps(on a good PC). Is it supposed to be like this? Because that's preeetty bad.

    Edit: Here's some info
    Nvidia Geforce GTX 560 TI
    Intel Core I5 750
    8 GB RAM
    1920 x 1080
    Windows 7 64 bit.
    Steam version

edit: aah, nevermind, Dxtory was bugged. Even tough it was turned off, it was still limiting my FPS to 30 ,since I put it on that to play stable 30 fps Shadowrun, since my pc is too weak for 60 .

This is really annoying... on an Alienware M14X R2 I am getting unacceptable frame rates. I get better frame rates from Bioshock Infinite on High Quality.

With the dedicated Nvidia Card I get:

25-40 FPS in Starbound on 1366x768

12-25 FPS in Starbound on 1600x900

I really hope this is fixed soon because it is not really playable at this moment. Especially on a high end laptop.

    Intel Core i7-3740 2.7GHz
    16GB RAM
    Nvidia 650M 2GB
    Windows 7 64 Bit

Super low frame rate and unresponsive cursor when using nvidia card, swapped to integrated intel card and it got rid of the framerate issues mostly, still choppy when i leave the campship because its a pretty bad card compared to the other.

    Windows 7 home premium 64bit
    GeForce GT 525M
    Intel core i3-23560M 2.30GHz

Yea, they stated that for the system requirements a mac book pro could run the game at a constant 60 fps. My computer of course is way more powerful and still i'm having constant drops.

Here's what worked for me, posted in the thread scottywatty linked to:

    Browse to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Starbound\win32\launcher
Right click on launcher.exe, go to properties.
    Click Compatibility tab
Uncheck everything here, and then place a check next to 'Run this program as an administrator'.
Click okay, then run the game through Steam. You'll get the admin prompt, but it'll run MUCH smoother.

Try doing the same thing for C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Starbound\win32\starbound.exe and let me know if that helps?
