Brony developers.

I've stopped reading about halfway in. Everyone is dancing around the subject, trying to express their disdain of something for various reasons while avoiding any offense. It's like everyone is just saying "This thing that you do is childish and I'd be caught dead before I did it, but that's fine that you do it." My previous post was about this type of hate, passive aggressive or otherwise.

As I stated before, I love to see other bronies everywhere, couldn't be happier that we have a presence in the development of Starbound! (In game or simply behind the scenes.) MLP are just as deserved as any reference. Wanna make a creature that when fed after midnight, transforms into a nasty monster? Cool, Gremlins! I don't see why a purple unicorn is any more out of place than Gremlins are.

 

You just seem like someone who takes anyone who disagrees with your opinion as someone who hates it. I don't like ponies. Never did. Don't like most Bronies I've dealt with either. One of my friends also happens to be a Brony though, and we get along fine.

My point about the whole reference thing everyone has gone off about is that the developers should keep references to a minimum, no matter what they are referencing, be it mlp or gremlins. Original content is always cooler than references.

Attempting not to offend people is not passive aggressive, but if you want blunt, here you go. You appear to be one of those bronies that is always the victim.

 

This is getting awful familiar sounding. What was it that furries cried out when they created their own self fulfilling prophecy? Fursecution?

What should I call it for Bronies?
Maresecution? Filsecution? Steedsecution? Equisecution?

Brosecution?

 

I think that references with a lot of followers/dislikers (I don't really know how to put it but I think you get what I mean) should be avoided if possible. It's a bit like politics and religion, you generally don't want to pull those things into a game. I mean if they added these things I think it would alienate a relatively large part of the consumer base. Same goes of course if they took stance against for example ponies. And finally, if it's added in a way that allows you to choose if you want to be for or against the ponies I think that would create a lot of unnecessary conflicts and groupings in the community. So in the end I think it's best if they leave those references out of the game entirely.

Personally, I really could care less about the entire thing. Though I must admit that if obvious pony references were added into the game I would be less prone to promote it to my friends and such since that would reflect onto me. It might not change much but it's the small things that counts.

 

I'm not mad, I haven't been hated on personally, and I'm not saying I have been. In general whenever anyone talks about bronies they say they "hate the fanbase", and that tag is almost always stuck on me whenever I talk about ponies, on topic or not. I frankly don't care who hates it or not. I also rather enjoy yo-yo's, but I don't claim everyone who can't catch one and isn't interested as hating it. My opinion throughout this thread has been that references are fine, of any kind, with no preference to ponies. I ATTEMPTED to get this thread back on track as acknowledgement of bronies on the development team, and now apparently I've taken everyone with opinions opposed and become offended by them.

The internet is already full of enough unnecessary MLP related drama, the Starbound community doesn't need any of it.

 

A bit late for that at this point.

 

I believe he was referencing that including such things in game could cause problems.

 

Well he said the community, not the game. Who knows what references will be in the game xD.
