She likes to make others smile that is correct. She wants her friends to be happy. A true friend would never want to smile if their friend was hurt because of it. She may have problems with rejection, who doesn't? Something that makes her happy is being around her friends. If you had the biggest thing in your life torn away no doubt it would hurt you to no end. Yes she didn't handle the wig for cranky well. I attribute that to her childlike innocence. She was not intending to cause any hard and was trying to help though her method wasn't the right way. She was trying to help him after she realized that she caused him harm by having rarity make that wig as a gift to make amends. She eventually reunited cranky with his long lost love as an attempt to make up for accidentally destroying his book. This wasn't intentional and everyone makes mistake that can hurt people. She was aware of her action and tried to apologize for damaging his property. She actually does say sorry to him many times. If you cause someone harm on accident and then try to make amends people CAN forgive them. The world can work like that with people who have not hardened their hearts to the kindness and sympathy of others.

On the friends avoiding her bit. That can be a painful thing to deal with even if it is for one day. She had a party and her friends made up excuses to why they were not coming and she saw them not doing the excuses they told her. They did lie to her (granted they were not trying to harm her but it was unintentional on their end). The chocolate rain this was well before the true chaos had hit. (before the even met discord and the really bad stuff began to happen). Before that it was just a bit crazy in which she had no control over so she tried to make the chaos fun. Making the best of a bad situation. On the nightmare night part she did but in and interrupt pipsqueak getting candy but he still may have received it even if it was not shown. She actually did not shove the kids out of the way but moved though them to the front of the crowd. The others did receive their candy and it was shown. I think pinkie was actually scared because she does mention that its fun to be scared. She did cause harm to the princess because she did not think it though on how she felt. This is a character fault Pinkie it no the pony who thinks everything though. Once she does meet the princess she does try and make amends but is frighten by the lightning strike. A lot of the times she ran from them it was a misunderstanding.

The part I really disagree with is that she cares only for her self. She gets joy out of making her friends smile. There is nothing wrong with that. She throw parties for her friends gives them gifts and helps them many times in episodes. That is hardly what I could call caring only for her self.
