Bringing character from world to world?

I was wondering: Will it be like Minecraft where one character is connected to a world/server/universe or will it be like in Terraria, where you can take your character from world to world? And will the lore-book and the book with monsters, plants etc. be connected to the game, or to a character?

Servers are able to select server side saves or client side, so some servers will allow you to bring your character from single player or other servers, whereas others will force you to make a new one and only allow you to play that character on their server.

There are pros and cons to both methods, but yes, assuming the servers you are playing on allow it, you will be able to bounce between games with 1 character :).

I hope you won't get bored with just one universe, considering the millions upon millions of planets you can explore. Someone had asked that.

    Okay, thanks.
I probably won't, but I may want to play with people on different servers. Sorry that it's already been asked.

Terraria had character clientside, and you could use stuff to give yourself a billion dynamite and join a server.

This was awful. Luckily, mods were put in place to fix this, hopefully we'll be able to keep characters clientside, since I'm sure people can look after their servers.

That problem is being solved by allowing sever owners to force people to make new characters for the server and saving those characters on the server.

Oho, neat. So it's OPTIONAL, in a way. I like that.

I want to be able to enter multiple worlds for cool building blocks and the like. If I find a planet at x y z coordinates with awesome blocks, but very few of them, I could go to the same planet in the new universe and get some more.

Or just explore the universe until you find another planet with the same blocks.

You wouldn't be able to do that because no universes will be the same :)

Actually all universes will be the same. Going to the same co-ordinates will always generate the same planet. It will just be populated by different creatures and items I believe.

I think the idea was if you typed in the same coordinates over and over again, you end up on the same planet.
But when you start a save, it dumps you in a random spot within the universe, so you work with different coordinates.

If you find an awesome planet, just give the coords to your friends and they can find it on their saves, too.

Yes exactly, the universe is still identical. You agreed with me, while somehow sounding like you disagree! Where you start the game is irrelevant, the same co-ordinates will always lead to the same planet. So if cross-universe characters were allowed you could theoretically keep farming the same planet in different universes. Reread the quote and the response I was replying too hehe

    I noticed that, too.
I was just recalling previous facts stated by the devs, but you hit the nail pretty solid.

I'm just hoping the universe is near-infinite. :)

    Evangelion Supernova

It should be near infinite hopefully.

On another note, chances are there'll be people throwin' up their "awesome Coordinates"(Seeds) on the wiki all the time.

    Oh yeah, that's true... Awesome!

Y'all do know that blocks aren't procedurally generated, right?

That's why it wouldn't be that much harder.

n starbound you have an infinite system and random still think it will be possible to transfer the character to be a system of universes (already created) to the other

awwww one univerce hmm should have a option in the "new saves" bit to create an entire new univers  (sorry for bad spelling) but i think that would crash or somthing so only one universe ... for now

(its just pain get over it)
