    Pentarctagon Over 9000!!!

I remember I was at a high school basketball game and one of the team's mascots was a teletubby (red one). It was kinda weird.

So what will the seed generator be based on?
    Hexdecimal maybe?

That's an interesting question. Minecraft seeds are unix timestamps of the time when the world was created (if I created a world at 03/16/2012 08:32:26 GMT, the seed would be 1331886747 - http://www.epochconverter.com/). I don't think that would work in Starbound because obviously it's not just one world being created - it's an almost-infinite universe full of worlds. Unless, perhaps, the planets are only generated when you visit them, and it takes that date/time, converts it, and uses that as the 'seed'?

Colour me contrary, but I'd prefer a fixed base seed so that everyone gets the same universe, but only start in a random part of it. Because it's procedural, it could still mean there are millions of systems/planets. The universe itself will then have a certain sense of familiarity, and if it were divided into recognizable chunks it makes for better conversation among players.

"My planet is in a random part of the universe" is less cozy than saying "I have a planet on the outer rim of the gamma quandrant of the Borean sector."

Other players will better be able to relate to the latter.

The universe everyone goes to is the same one, that is why Tiy was saying that if you found an awesome planet you can share the coordinates and your friends can go there too.

WelshPixie, you forgot the last line Tiy said: After he says: ' Its possible yes' , he says this:
Mar 16 05:19:31 @Tiy: but so is the chance of accidentally falling onto a unicycle, which accidentally rolls you into a news agent, where a lottery ticket accidentally falls into your pocket, and your money falls out of your pocket, accidentally onto the table, and the unicycle accidentally wheels you back home where you accidentally fall onto the couch just as the lottery comes on and you accidentally win.

Just wanted to let you know this :p

The telletubies have always creeped me out. I mean those eyes, THOSE HORRIBLE EYES! And the coordinate thing sounds really cool, I'm interested on how multiplayer will work with them.
