Yeah, people need to stop thinking of the starmap as like.. a grid of 10x10 boxes, each containing a planet. It's just a seed input.

I wonder how many digits the seeds will be, though?

They could make StarBound into an "MMO" if people had a "Metaverse"(Special multiplayer) button that makes you host a server when you join a planet, and if someone else joins that planet then they join the server, as long as they are using Metaverse mode too!

 

There would be so many people on Planets:

• 34
• 63
• 42
• 911
• 101
• 343
• 9001
• 8999

EDIT:

• 666
• 777
• Basic triples...
• 3.14159 (Happy Pi(e) day everyone.

And so on...

 

What if each planet in "Metaverse" had 4 "Sectors" Which of each being server slots on a planet and people would be able to change sectors on the fly to fight over the planet or join other people.

So if one server is full on the planet you have 3 others to choose from.
Nice idea?

And i expect server hosts to be able to set the max player cap.
What if there was no limit?

Edit: I believe seeds should have a min and max amount of digits(8-12) in them and be made of numbers only. that may solve the thought.

 

hmmm... This random seed will bring up various problems, such as flying to a level 100 planet and when you try to explore it you horrendously die. If there is a 'hardcore' mode this uncertainty may get quite bothersome. Secondly when you go online, you would have mean no way of protecting planets by surrounding it with other protective planets/fleets of space ships. Each individual planet you want to protect has to be protected by defense mechanisms on that planet, which if you start colonizing a lot of these planets will get to be a problem. Though I guess that is just the danger of playing online in an unregulated server...

 

That would actually be pretty cool. These obvious coordinates could act as natural hubs for communities. You want to go chat or lfg, go to some common coordinates. You want to go it alone, mash the keypad. I'd love to build a giant casino on planet 777, or a hookah bar on 420, or terraform 666 to look extra evil.

 

Seemed more of a Tinky Winky guy, oh well, gives me a shocked face :O
