I don't know if you have played Braid, the indie game... if not, you should. So now imagine a planet in which for some reason time and space are completely messed up. Once you land, everything is completely static, nothing moves... Until YOU move. And everytime you move, everything moves. And everytime you stop, everything stops. You could even give it some twisted/horror background, to actually make it scary, and even some music that would only play when you move. Maybe it's just too hard to do, but it would be a nice gameplay-changer.
That would be an AWESOME ripoff While we're at it, maybe we can have a device (chronometer) to mark our position and record what we're doing, then rewind ourselves to the mark and we can act parallel to our recording - Like the Misadventures of P.B. Winterbottom ! Next would be some gravity-boots, when worn disabling jumping, but instead turn around gravVVVVVity !
Problem with the chronometer thing is the whole multiplayer thing, it would only work singleplayer ^^
Correct. You can't turn back time for multiplayer. But then, you still could do the recording and playback-thing, without the rewinding I think this is the case in the Misadventures, too, only that there events are periodical (monsters alwas walking the same exact path). Got that mixed up.
I like this idea it sounds creepy as hell. What if there was a sorta larger scale version in which the whole star system suffered the effect. It could give way to a system wide story that starts on the star systems beginning border and ends where it began on the planet from which it happened.
I absolutely love this idea, imagine trying to out run something on your way back to your ship.. Hmmm~ Gives me such inspiration for a very eerie theme, would you at all mind if I made some music to go along with the idea? I'll link back to this thread when it's done! Edit: Done
For some reason the song Bluesummers from the Trigun OST came to mind: Maybe a dangerous etheral creature like a Boo could be following you at the same time, only moving when you move, and as it approaches you walk slower and slower...
Interesting idea, but it might take far too many resources away from the development of other things to implement such a specific feature. And I'm not sure how well it would really fit with the overall vision that Tiy et al have for the game.
I know, it's actually quite a demanding idea, but damn it if it wouldn't be epic. By the way, thank you guys for those themes (especially Zenuel for creating it), I'll listen to them later as I'm in the office right now (bad boy )
Ok Merc, I just listened to it, didn't remember that song from Trigun (awesome series, by the way!). It would also work well with the planet, just as the one by Zenuel. It's extremely dark and creepy, WEIRD, which is probably one of the best words to describe the world.
I love this Idea; anything where the rules of reality dont apply and/or work properly always add a great level of atmosphere as well as up the erie factor by a welcome notch. P.S. I loved Braid
I was absolutely fascinated by Braid and would love to see an idea like this implemented, however unlikely that may be. It would be tremendously creepy to visit a world where the normal laws of time and space do not apply.
OOOOOR OOOOOOOR! How about enemies that move only when you look away, and they freeze when you look at them! weeping demons
You could suggest that in the creatures subforum, it's a recurrent kind of creature in games, but always delightful to find! Although I never finished the game myself, I do see what you did there
