Boss Bosses for StarBound

Jesus Christ, I mean how are they fantasy? Just because you think of something it doesn't deem it fantasy, it could be existent. As I must state again, please clarify.

 

This game is doomed to be called a Terraria ripoff no matter what because it's a 2D game with a destroyable enviroment, there is no point in restricting themselves because of this and I doubt a giant worm boss is going to be the biggest argument for this game being a ripoff considering the other "similarities".

And for the other argument, you shouldn't just look at how an idea wouldn't work simply because no explanation was given. While they didn't state that there would be scientific explanations they didn't state that they would be magical either, so there's no reason to just jump to the worst conclusion and assume they won't fit into the game when you have almost no information. And I doubt I'd be able to find the quote, I believe that it was on IRC so it's probably lost forever.

To the OP: like other people said these ideas really need to be described in detail more, we don't have any idea how the bosses would fight and there are no sprites given, this suggestion really doesn't have much detail.

All that's poping to mind is octopus

 

Semi-transparent giant manta rays with random colors/ attacks.



their already huge, and awesome looking, just add some alien flair and magic.

Hello all. Before she went to sleep, Saiya asked me to help flesh out the boss ideas. Here's what's been come up with.

And that's what's been written up so far.
... *whistles* Damn, look at that wall of text. Better get me climbin' boots.

 

Some interesting ideas out there but all so generic and common.
By boss he simply means creatures that are the most powerful on many worlds
with traits and abilitys that make them worth hunting.
A great sea creature could come in many forms a good example would be:
(Warning my downside is i cant do names for the life of me)
The geltic ocean:
Look: The creature resembles a large mass of water besides it's shifting blue colors that almost look like brain activity.
Attack style: If you try to attack from the distance the creature shoots parts of itself as projectiles.
it can even convert parts of itself into flying and walking creatures designed to kill it's pray.
If someone is dum enough to get close the ocean will drag them in and try to drown them.
Weakness: fire,explosive based attacked.
Traits: It is unharmed by normal bullets,melee attacks and is known for produceing a large em field making it impossible
for mechs and other such tech to approch it without specific upgrades.

There a small idea of a single creature.

Oh and one last note these are not really boss's just creatures so tough that people are willing to traverse the
galaxy to hunt them.

Space Pirate Raid is more of an event, not really of a boss.

 

yes but we said that there would be a boss with them to defeat to get your stuff back

 

That took you a while to respond. But still, this would somewhat classify as an Event with some additional higher tier boss. ( How I'm comprehending. )
