That's not what I had envisioned, but it's still a good example. I was more thinking the Bridge of Death from Monty Python, and also a scene from TwoKinds with a battle of general knowledge.

So.. a lot of ideas now.
Anything strike the developers fancy though? You ask us, now I ask you.

    - as Joel would say after an invention exchange, "What do you think sirs?"

Meh, it gets the point across. We always hear people saying we should worry about coral reefs, this one because its coming after you.

I like giant sea beasties, so this one appeals to me

...what do you mean that's already a thing?

I want to fight a moon. There should be meteor strikes and earthquakes and eruptions.

I would also like an ethereal boss where you can only hit it when it isn't visible.
It should be called "the malformed" and should be a collection of shadows where you attack
the shadows when they are separated so it has a weaker defense.
When it is together it can be damaged but is considerably harder to hurt.

I want to fight a viking. Make of that what you will. Viking. Boss fight.

Put this in another thread, but will post it here as well. Why not a boss that splits into multiple parts?

Are multi-piece bosses possible(Like skeletron)? Cause that would probably change a thing or two...

    Terrahero Cosmic Narwhal

    Radiation Golem
Big brightly glowing hulking monster that will degenerate your health steadily just for being near it. The closer you are, the more damage you take.
Potentially it could also cause fall out where it walks, or when it takes damage.

    Subject Gamma
A failed expirment in a run down lab. It hunts organic matter by simply swallowing it whole. It will attack any lifeform, and when it is consuming something or someone it will regenerate health. Kinda of Amoeba like creature, but much bigger.

    Doppelgangster
An allien crimelord that will mimic the apearance of its foes (the player) by copying the race, sex and face but in stylish gangster wear. Uses guns, and calls in backup from subordinate gangsters.

This is a cool idea. I was thinking some kind of slime creature as well, though I was more on the path of "giant blob monster that leaves behind as it moves, and shoots out globs of it, which flow like water on the ground (only slower) and damage the player if touched." But this shapeshifter idea is also very cool, so I was thinking perhaps a combo? When it's in blob form it can move and shoot as above, but then it can also take the form of something else entirely at the expense of the acid-shooty™ ability.

Dunno if someone already posted something like mine.

    Anyways,
I think a dual stealth boss battle would be epic for me.
One, cloaks around/ hides in the shadows/ background elements, backstabbing you once in a while to debuff, but has low damage, then returns to the shadows.
Then there's this other guy somewhere far in the biome sniping you for actual damage.
Or vice versa (sniper debuffs, so it's more consistent, and the stealth guy deals the big damage, but more easily avoided)

You must use stealth as well to defeat them.
So yeah, there would be tripwires that they've set up, once triggered it alarms so that they know your location. So you gotta watch out for those.
Noise is a factor so you really gotta slow down.
There's alot of foliage for you to hide in (assuming that stealth like that would be implemented) (also, I REALLY want this game to have SOME kind of foreground elements like tall grass)

Pretty OP boss I think, but this is something that appeals to me. Couple it with some sneaky but intense back ground music and you've got yourself an edge-of-seat boss battle.

I was thinking more along the lines of the Deep Purple song, but that works too.

    Concept:
This boss will randomly attack the players while they are exploring the planet (either underground or above ground).

    Mechanics:
Players will need to construct some sort of device/structure to stop/stall the boss long enough to cause damage. The more players on the planet then the more bosses will spawn, and the attacks will be more frequent.

    Implementation:
Instead of one boss it is a jetpack/hovervehicle gang that is terrorizing the villages of the planet. The citizens are all scared and will be reluctant to help the player until the gang is defeated. However, the vehicles that the gang uses are special vehicles that render the riders immune to all damage. The players then must find a way that will disable the vehicles by building a device that will power down the vehicles (of course the main component of said device is found in the lair of the gang).

In a game based around the exploration of planets, I think it would be cool if you could get a 'starmap' or some way to get to a specific planet.

As soon as you land you realize the planet itself is attacking you (the trees try to hit you, poison ground in some areas, I don't know) and you have to destroy the planet to defeat the boss (perhaps getting down to the core and destroying it, which causes a timed event to get back off the planet before it is completely destroyed)

Someone else will have to do pictures, I'm just a words guy.

Funky Robots! This idea isn't very fleshed out, but it'd be neat if we had a music themed boss. Perhaps a giant robot with a sword keytar that it would charge up and swing at you or a spaceship/hovercraft with giant speakers that shoot party lasers or sound waves at you. The boss could summon instrument playing mobs or mobs with weaponized instruments/party items. It could summon disco balls that open up to shoot lasers at you or perhaps explode when you get too close, if you kill one it drops a disco ball that you can place in your home. Heck, it could summon a penguin playing a drum kit that just sits there and pointlessly plays the drums while you fight or until you kill it. Then voila, free drum kit! This would be a great way to give the player instruments, they'd have to farm the boss until they got all the instruments they wanted in lieu of buying them or finding the recipe to craft them.

    I am the cyberwalrus.

The cyberwalrus (name may change) is encountered at the end of a quest on a snowy planet

    Attacks: Tusks (obviously)
Big cannon (Main ranged attack, splash damage, slightly damages blocks)
Missile barrages (less common ranged attack, launches 3-10 missiles, which, when launched, home in on a random nearby player, does slightly more damage to blocks)
Chest laser (rare attack, charges up then sweeps across an area, does large damage to players and pets/monsters, passes through and possibly damages/destroys blocks, good against players that are walling themselves in to avoid damage),
    Body slam (secondary melee)

Mechanics: The quest giver is a scientist obsessed with walruses, who wants you to find the results from a forgotten Apex experiment on walruses. When you return them, he reveals that he was the subject of the experiment, and he was a walrus in disguise, and he tries to kill you for reasons.

Drops: Ivory, meat, blubber, a bucket, pixels, random other loot, a walrus-themed weapon.
