I would like to fight a living nebula cloud.
The fight would start on your ship after doing some prerequisite. At least set after teir3 ships are gotten of course so you have room to move and fight in.

You endup accidentally or maybe for a quest flying into one of the gasclouds and become stuck. While there inside your ship would spawn various beings that are -like- novakids except ghostly, more transparent and obviously out to attack you. You would have to survive a wave of them until a boss cloud spawned in your ship and then while the originals still spawn you would have to defeat it.

In the end after you defeat the cloud.. as it is vanishing and the disturbance in the nebula ends, you get flashes from the thing about how it was once a star like the one that birthed the novakids. Only somehow before that happened it went nova to soon. The cloud that had been born from that event gained sentience but was filled with rage as all around it was nothing but death. It and the remnants of the half formed novakids where all that was left. However thanks to the player the strange charge created when the star went nova that gave the cloud sentience - has been removed causing all the corrupted brands to break at once. It would allow the nebula to sometime millions of years from now to form new stars possible of actually forming or having planets that could support life and a chance at a new race.

Sort of a ghost story, but with a scifi bent. Ugh to close to October.. ask again when Halloween themed bosses aren't on my mind.

Anything cyborg. A small herd of cyborg dinosaurs that bite and shoot lasers at the player led by a mad cyborg scientist Apex riding a cyborg t-rex.

A giant Avian statue that's slowly falling apart. As the statue breaks and falls apart it reveals a metal exoskeleton and possibly when it's near death the head or chest caves in to reveal the mysterious pilot!

Junk/garbage titan/robot that's barely held together. It should wield a giant hammer and potentially have a clock and stop sign on its body somewhere.

Why isn't this a competition like the 'create-a-hat' or 'create-a-monster' contests you've done in the past? Not that I'd enter, my creativity has been sucked dry by corporate monotony.

    Just a thought.

Mulder and Scully boss. Only available if you're playing as a not-human. This is a stealth boss, your objective it to make sure that the 'truth' does not get 'out there'.

Deep underground, an earthquake pushes a wall of earth coming from the left, never ceasing through a large complex cave system. Radiation interference disables most of your weapons and jetpack.

Your only hope is to ninja rope your way through the cave system and escape to the surface before you are crushed by the incoming rock.

I had one idea for a boss, called a Dark Angel (working title).

This is a boss that you likely won't defeat in one sitting, but not for the reason you think. This creature is a ghost (or incorporeal ectoplasmic entity, if that's not scienecy enough for you). In a server full of strangers, they are the most deadly. They're shapeshifters, with the goal of sneaking into civilizations and causing civil war for some unknown end. They have an ancient Roman aesthetic, can travel through space and water unaided, are immune to physical attacks obviously, and are vulnerable to energy weapons.

Anyways, they confront the player indirectly at first. While invisible, they latch onto a random player and follow them everywhere they go, even between planets. When that player happens to point mouse over another player (or does some other innocuous action), the ghost damages them. If you shoot them back in a certain amount of time after, the boss reveals itself, and then fights the players for a short time, before running off somewhere. It'll come back again eventually, but if you're dedicated, you can go ghost hunting (probably with and item that is dropped or becomes craftable after the first encounter with it).

I'm interested in the idea of a mobile boss, one that can create the atmosphere of a horror game, and gives the player and interesting side quest to do if they want to defeat it. More than anything, that's what I'm suggesting. The specifics I said don't matter as much as this point.

How about a fleet of yellow plow-like ships that are trying to destroy the planet you are currently on? You would have to board one of them using a device that you keep hidden in the satchel you walk around with. The aliens on board you be absolutely hideous and try to attack you with some form of written art-from...

I wonder where on Earth such ideas came from...

Nice! I really like the idea of a boss that you have to hunt for, and that you encounter several times (with it surprising you at each encounter).

Take this from any number of games, movies, or other entertainment.

This character you would meet early on, perhaps in your tutorial mission. For some reason you get separated or go separate ways, your goals different. During many points in your storyline progression he returns as a mini-boss where you defeat him or one of his creations (but he escapes), inevitably culminating in a boss fight where you finally defeat him.

  16. Another idea - a boss made of liquid.
Imagine something like a small moving lake, with very angry fishes living in it.
There could be some kind of force field generator giving a shape to it, so you have to dive INTO a boss to stop it.
I wonder if the current ingame physics allow something like that?:yeahhhh:

Paradise. The verdant islands that dot the sea of this strange new world hold the promise of plenty, as does the sea itself. You set out alone in your tiny vessel, the sound of the waves lapping gently at the shore grows ever more distant. Soon, you can scarcely see your new home at all.

As you set back into your seat and cast out your line, the sun rises overhead. It isn't long before you've filled your hull with all manner of fish, squid, lobster and crab. You and the others will eat well tonight. Calm settles over the sea. You feel a gentle tug on your line. A soft smile crosses your lips as you start to reel it in.

Without warning, something living slams itself against the belly of your ship. The brine stings your nostrils as the air rushes out of your lungs. You catch only a fleeting glimpse of the culprit. Ghostly white eyes gaze hungrily at you , but you cannot even muster a scream. As soon as you've seen it, it darts into the abyss. As you tread water, struggling to catch your breath, you wonder what you've just seen...

It does not return alone. The shoal is hungry.

Let me throw another out one less Halloween themed.

    The great bird.

Summoned on a scripted planet a section of it with an alter lifts up revealing a massive condor. The old avian spaceship was remored to have been used by Kluex and yet as it refuses to land you are forced to bring it down. Automated defensive systems would pop up including turrets and other things shooting at you. What would make the fight unique is you would have to climb at points (the alter would have been on its foot) up along the side of the ship.. gunning or swinging at vital spots while trying to avoid various hazards. If you fall off you wouldn't lose the fight.. you would just have to time a ninjarope back up when it passes overhead and resume the attempt after its systems auto repaired.

After gunning it down inside you find the resting place of Kleux himself, learning that he died in the ship having chosen to leave his people before a natural end claimed him. From the log you learn he HAD a destination in mind beside this planet and it could lead to another boss.

    --------------------------------

Avian creator robotic drone ship, core.

I have a vague idea for this involving something of their lore. Basically all your technology would be useless unless you search for a friend or npc to help you.Yyou would have to bring a avian npc or player with you at which point the boss would become vulnerable while they tried to scan that person. You would have to attack it while dodging pillars that spun around the room, back and forth sideways, while jumping on them to get high enough to hit the boss eye. The npc would just doge around, but a player could also try to help you giving the fight an edge if you bring a friend but not be impossible alone.

    -----------------------------------------

Once you beat it, the pillars drop and you move on to a sub boss, a robotic version of Kluex(or just happens to look like) made by the creators. It would have to scale with level but should defiantly use the highest tier avian armor and weapons. Even with the npcs help or extra players the boss shouldn't be easy, able to preform a unique tech with its weapon that sends out a shockwave. Once you defeat the boss it should also drop that tech schematic.

If defeated it would inform you about the past history of the Avian a little more.

(Warning this maybe a little off from their lore, I read it a long time ago but hopefully this inspires some ideas in the team.)
