    Walross Pangalactic Porcupine

Well, let me think. Possibly a bull-armadillo type thing, heavily armoured and with colossal horns. Or on a seperate note, something kind of shadowy, like this: image.jpg

EDIT: okay, i whipped up a sprite for the armabullo.

Von Neumann Probes - Grey Goo (Repeatable-Random Spawn)- This monster exists for the sole purpose of absorbing materials and making more of itself. It can take any shape or form and uses random attacks. (as per random generation, though grey/metallic) It also has a special attack which it shoots at the ground. On hit it absorbs the 5-15 tiles and heals 2% health per absorbed tiles. On death drops Level appropriate item and piece of coordinates. Upon finding 10 pieces of coordinates player can venture to Von Neumann's planet of origin and shut the machines down, by fighting an ultimate boss (Perhaps a metallic orb than shift to different shapes at will ie. Cannon form fires a laser beam, rocket form explodes etc.) On defeat it shuts down all Von Neumann attacks. However from that point onward every 10 real-time hours there is a 2% chance that the factory will respawn in another place.

  3. How about a GIANT worm-like creature which SWALLOWS you so you have to fight its inner symbionts/parasites trying to find and destroy its vital organs before it digests you?

This is the third time I'm posting this because of the many clone threads, but at least this time it's Tiy's, so:

Come to think of it, though, the Jack O' Lantern boss doesn't really fit Starbound's sci-fi setting.

Bosses from Ancient Mythology such as the Greek, Viking and Egyptian gods. (Hades, Loki and Set.) - Would be cool to have a story-arch around a fact maybe that gods used to watch Earth in the first place hence ancient human history, but retreated further into space after abandonment. (Really they saw Miley twerk and got the hell out of there.)

A boss that taps into your mind and recreates your bad memories such as making you fight all the bosses you previously fought in other tiers, obviously with a smaller health pool. Each time you encounter he could pull a random set out of the boss pool. The drops could be reforged and updated items that previous bosses dropped.

A powerful time traveler who says he has come to future to stop you from committing an atrocity. (You could possibly be forced to do something in the story line.)

Obviously bosses referenced to the books of H. P. Lovecraft.

A space terrorist leader who believes his group must cleanse the galaxy because they do not follow the burdens of his religion.

Death.(Supernatural reference) Older than the universe, destined to reap even god himself.(Could be slenderman)

Terrarria did a Cthulhu homage. I think you should do one for Azathoth (or the Flying Spaghetti Monster).

Azathoth: "[O]utside the ordered universe [is] that amorphous blight of nethermost confusion which blasphemes and bubbles at the center of all infinity—the boundless daemon sultan Azathoth, whose name no lips dare speak aloud, and who gnaws hungrily in inconceivable, unlighted chambers beyond time and space amidst the muffled, maddening beating of vile drums and the thin monotonous whine of accursed flutes."

Perhaps you could poke some fun at Unspeakable Vault and make the creature more like "Zatoth"

Something like a Shoggoth would make a good boss for underground/ancient ruins (or tentacle planets).

    The Failure

Before the conception of the Glitch the creators tried many methods to create a sentient artificial life form, each was met with failure. One particular project tried to introduce organic matter in to an artificial body which at first yielded positive results, but quickly took a turn for the worst.
The project began to absorb more and more organic matter as if it craved the very life held within, the creators saw the danger of the abomination and moved quickly to destroy it. The creature however, had evolved beyond the confines of mortal flesh and machine in to something darker, repelling all attacks with regenerative abilities as it fed upon anything it touched.
In one final last ditch attack the creators were able to render the mass inert and buried it deep underground in a specially designed prison, never again to see the light of day.

What the creators had not realised was that life......will always find way.

Long after the creators seemingly vanished from the universe, new races reached out to the sky in the name of exploration. Treasure seekers trolled the planets for artifacts and items of value, the ruins of the prison entrance called to them with promises of long forgotten riches. What they found was something that should have remained buried, something that used their bodies to begin it's growth once again.

    End.

Basically a horrific mass of machine and organic matter that hangs from a ceiling. Bodies of unfortunate explorers can be seen sticking from the mess of wires, veins, metal and flesh. From it's main mouth a Glitch like head protruding from a tongue like apparatus, the last original part of the project.
    (basically the weak spot)

Here is the start of a picture I am currently working on and will update as I go.

Guuuuuuh, taking longer than expected and running in to the age old designing issue, the scarier you try to make something, the sillier it can often become lol
    (Like the 5th revision xD)

(Kinda getting out of hand now...and doin pull ups or somethin, kinda hard to put words in to pictures)

  14. Caidoz

There should be a boss for each of the main races, and that takes care of 7 right there.

I know I'm not the only one who wants to duke it out with the Miniknog or some kind of unholy resurrection of Kluex. :viking:

I think it would be really cool if there was a planet that was a boss. Like a living planet, and the battle begins when you land on it. Tentacles rise up from holes in the ground, and you damage it by attacking some sort of "hearts" under the surface, that are its squishy vulnerable parts. The ground is actually more like flesh, the water is blood, etc. It could be a pretty intense, drawn out battle, and the ways to beat it could be kind of complex, as it could involve mining/building while the planet is trying to kill you.

Yes, that should totally happen. As description the flowers should have "Not again..."

A giant apex might be cool as a sort of pseudo-reference to DBZ.
