Holy shit that's a lot of cool suggestions. I'd have to say I like the idea of the igniting paper he best, as well as the paper burst idea. I think I might just have to add these to the original post hahahah.

I'd say have something along the lines of Charlotte's book from Castlevania. Obviously not powered by magic but with advanced technology, being able to compress weapons into the bindings of a book so that they're released when opened would work right? Oh that librarian over there looks weak and fragile. Not really, because there are thirty swords compressed in his book now hurtling towards you at high speeds.

 

I know, that sounds incredibly bad ass.
Although it might be hard to pull off something like that with the excuse of "It's just incredibly advanced technology".

 

Well, I mean, think about how the Tardis works. A hollow book that's a lot bigger on the inside.

 

Ah I see, okay fair enough.

 

Or you could find some way to set up some sort of warp gate in a book to a stockade of weapons. It'd be like a magic hat, but a lot more deadly.

 

Okay putting it like that yes, this does seem possible, especially since one of the items you can craft is the "Bigger on the inside Backpack".

Fair enough but I'm not one to want to run around smacking people with explosives.

 

Opening any book written in Arcanic is oftentimes written down to suicide.

Chances are if you cant read a book, it either A. Doesnt want to be read. or B. Will kill you if you try.
Be sure when handling books written in an offensive language to aim it at the person you want dead.
