Bonehammer is over-powered

    It's by far too powerful, there's not really any point to other weapons except to shoot straight up with guns and stuff once you have an appropriate level bone hammer. I don't use it because it trivializes combat.

    Step one is to get all of the content and items into the game. Step two is to balance them. I'm sure (or at least, I hope) that balancing the Legendary Weapons is high on the "to-do" list for Beta Stage 3.

    Personally, I agree with the idea of the other Legendary Weapons getting a boost, rather than the Bonehammer getting a nerf. The weapons need to feel overpowered, they need to feel "Legendary." All we need is some good end-game content that makes a weapon alone not enough.

    For example, my Hylotl destroys things on the surface with his Bonehammer. Tier 10 Floran Prisons, though? The range on those shocky sticks, and the pure power behind their pulse rifles... I'm spending 75% of my time in the dungeons hiding behind dirt walls and healing. We just need more things like that to keep some overpowered weapons from trivializing the whole game.

    Yeah, with the news of CF hiring someone to working specifically on the mob AI, we'll hopefully be facing more challenging enemies. Legendaries need to continue to feel kind of epic against more difficult opponents.

    Personally I like the power of the bonehammer. After all, just because you have a powerful weapon doesn't mean you can't die. In fact, I've nearly been killed by it once or twice, because of its tendency to break blocks. Using this same concept for other legendary weapons would be a good idea: making them powerful but sometimes dangerous, even to the user.

    The problem is not the power of the bone hammer itself, the real problem is the power of the bone hammer COMPARED to other legendaries, I mean the bone hammer outclasses every of the other ones to the point there's only one choice if you want a powerful weapon.
    This weapon has it all, short range, medium range, and long range, not only it has all but it also excels at all. So there are only 2 solutions, first is nerf it (changing the effect or making it weaker), second is buff other legendaries.

    Occasionally dying because someone is dumb enough to break the platform they are on over some lava doesn't make a weapon balanced. If they added a handheld railgun that did massive amounts of damage, but gave you some knockback of a a few blocks, it wouldn't be balanced because one time somebody accidentally shot themselves off a cliff and died.

    I advocate for a slight nerf to the bonehammer, and a slight buff to the other legendaries. The hammer should really swing slower to make up for its ability to be used as what amounts to a handheld mortar that you can also hit things with. A bone or two fewer would also help balance it out.

    Actually, when I almost died from the bonehammer it was because I jumped to avoid breaking the platform I was on, and ended up breaking a glass wall holding back lava instead. The story's in the death thread, in fact. :)

    Anyways, I don't see why things like the bonehammer's propensity to break nearby blocks shouldn't be considered as legitimate counterbalances to the power of the weapon. We don't need to be hamstrung by weaker weapons, we need more weapons with the destructive potential of the bonehammer that force us to rethink our tactics when we use them. I say, if anything, increase the damage that the bonehammer's player-centered explosion does to blocks. If it destroys the dirt under your feet every time it's used, you'll be forced to exercise more restraint with the weapon.

    I think each legendary weapon should have a strength that makes it desirable, and other legendaries simply don't have strengths that stand out like the bonehammer. Even before numbers are brought into play =P

    Tesla staffs are pretty neat... Until you notice that even Lightning-elemental weapons can hit with the weapon + the lightning effect, whereas the Tesla staff can only hit once (either the weapon or the shock, but not both). There is no spread on the lightning effect, so you're still quite vulnerable. This is a good thing, as there is a drawback to using this. The attack speed is also not fast (1.0 is the usual, I think).

    Starswords are really nice, actually. You can hit enemies twice (once with the sword, once with the boom), you can hit multiple enemies with both hits, and it doesn't have overpowering range. The explosion might be a bit large, hitting everything in front of you and even slightly above your head, but that can be toned down as needed!

    Slaveswords, I don't have a lot of experience with them. The only time I found them was on my Floran that could only use spears =/

    Bubbleswords are fairly decent, because they have a good, defensive spread that will help prevent enemies from getting to you, but the damage is not overwhelming since the bubbles are spread out. The bubbles also don't do a huge amount of damage. The part of these that could be toned down is the spread/number of bubbles, as these swords can be quite fast, and spammed bubbles pretty much prevent you from taking any damage from enemies in front of you.

    I don't really remember eyeswords, I only found one in my T1 Apex that died of playerfile corruption, so...yeah.

    For example, the bonehammer's trademark is the 7 bone spray, which has range, block-breaking, and damage. I believe they have slow swing rates, so the entire screen isn't filled up with them like a game of Gradius, but they fly far and each bone can deal damage to an enemy, much like a flak cannon.

    I think that flak cannon aspect of the bonehammer is a big part of the problem, because it can do well against multiple enemies but also it can do insane damage vs single enemies, especially large enemies (bosses).

    I don't understand why people always complain about a weapon being op, for F sakes its a gaddam legendary weapon, if its can't devastate then what's the point of having legendary weapons in the game at all? I swear some frikkin idiots are just trying to ruin a good game!....Idiots!!!!

    If there's one thing negative about the bonehammer IMO its that if I die while its selected upon respawning in my ship it smashes all my chest open and I think we all know how frustrating that can be.

    People keep saying the Bone Hammer is OVERPOWERED!
    Well I have 2 ideas..

    A) We could nerf the Bone Hammer...
    OR>>>>
    :cool: WE COULD BUFF EVERYTHING ELSE!


    Okay, seriously though, I think it would be better to work around the bonehammer and provide more interesting weapons that could be useful in different ways, instead of just boning the bonehammer.
