Nifty. Now I just need to find a large body of water to sail in. Also, would be nice if there were an iron boat that could sail in lava...
Hrm, lava sailing wouldn't be too hard... I think. I'll look into it. And for a large body of water, I would recommend downloading Variety is the Spice of the Universe. Although the ocean planets are super rare at tier 1, but I think they get more common later in the game.
You should make it so that the tech is crafted like a boat would be made with wood, cloth and some metal!
I will definitely be taking a look at balancing in future mod updates. The eventual plan is to add the boats into a whole aquatic-themed modpack! We'll see if that ever happens though.
Maybe add a Shipbuilder's Workshop/Work Table? Ooh, maybe also add a way of crafting ship anchors... I don't much care for stealing the one from the Avian pirates.
You should definitely make randomly spawned pirate ships in big bodies of water. (Maybe even code in a new ocean biome so you dont need any additional mods)
Well then, it's official. After I finish my current modding project I will begin work on an aquatic modpack, complete with my own custom oceanic biomes, pirate ship mobs, more boat techs (and submarines!), and all sorts of sea creatures/monsters. Other ideas that I have been thinking about are: Seabound professions, aka fishing, whaling, underwater farming, pirating, etc Some REALLY COOL sea monsters/bosses: whales, dolphins, creepy weird deep-sea creatures, The Kraken, Cthulhu, Moby Dick, Scylla/Charybdis, giant swimming crabs, etc. Underwater themed items/gear: scuba gear, pirate/sailor themed cosmetic items, sea-based explosives, underwater decorative objects, etc. I could go on and on. What do you guys think? any more suggestions?
If you are using VitSotU, the oceanic biomes can be found in any sector but are more common in the later ones.
it would be nice if the mod had a real crafting requirement, just for immersion, like a good bit of lumber and whatever else could be thrown into it
Allow me to be the first of the many nice comments. That. Looks. Amazing. I really, really hope you'll keep working on awesome new boats... because this little retired PT Boat is exactly what my retired colonial marine needs. Who cares if there are no fish in his pond....
