Boat Not Working?

So I recently got the boat tech thanks to finding a blank tech card. I wanted to use it to explore a poison ocean planet, but I can't seem to get it to activate. I press F in and out of the water, and nothing happens.

Does boat not work right now, or am I doing something wrong?

Yeah, I'm still not totally certain why the jumping is necessary. I imagine it's because the boat needs a little space beneath your character.

On the flip side, though, you can also jump and use all related jump techs from a boat while it's on the water. Rocket Boating is amazing.

 

vehicles, such as the boat or mech, require enough space to spawn without being obstructed by ANYTHING (including water apparently), jumping just gives it enough space

 

I never really noticed the issue since I naturally just jump out over the water and activate it so I land on the water in the boat.

 

You can even spawn the boat on your ship or land as long as you jump first and you may not be too high off the ground. (ps: you can get falling damage with the boat if you fall of a mountain, I tested it)

 

Rocket boating is the only reason I made ceruleum armor.
