Blood, Tears, and Vomit Umbrellas at the Ready: A Review of Starbound

I'm also taking out some of the mean spirited stuff, but keeping the rest of the review. Make better posts next time.

 

I just checked the "front page" (it's really just a really, really big page with the most recent on top) of the reviews for Starbound on the Steam page... I've yet to seen a positive "review".
Even the ones for today, I can't find a positive review.

Also, all of the reviews include a "Early-Access Review" blue tag thingy, so as this product STANDS, they're valid.

Yeah! Burn the game, burn the money, burn the Mario Kart, burn the offices, burn the puppy, burn the dev team, because we are entitled to a complete Early Access game!

...wait, what? The entire progression system is still being revised, combat is revamped, etc. = Still in development. There is no reason to announce the game to be a failure at this point, as the game is still evolving. Also, that review is a old one.

Examples!
1 (constructive): "I disagree with the way you implemented ship customization at this point. It seems a little pointless and bland in its current form. Perhaps adding some spinning rims to the ship might help"
2 (belligerence): "Ship customization is !@#$, Fix it or I want a !@#$ing refund, even-though I've got 200 hours played"

Except I see a far higher volume of positive reviews to negative ones. Scroll down. The positive reviews basically getting downvoted, while the negative ones are getting upvoted. From what I can see, there are more by quantity positive reviews, and a vocal minority upvoting negative reviews that are full of false information and gamers.txt.

 

He got a 3 day ban for make a post as dumb as comparing moderators on a video message board to Fascists not the review. He isn't dumb, but the post was, and I feel the punishment was fair. The review is still there.

 

"He didn't write the inflammatory, insulting and offensive thing, he just reposted it while saying he agrees!"

 

You just basically hid the truth and left out everything "nice" in this review. Mate, if you don't what people to see this, you could as well delete the whole thread and then magically delete the review on Steam. We sorta all know that Steam community are a bunch of assholes, why edit the review? It's a dumb review anyway.

Well, ain't this true? He didn't say YOU ARE fascists, he actually meant that some mods simply remove what they don't like. Why ban someone who didn't mean to say what you may thought?
And again, simple allegory brought a banhammer upon user's head. That just shows that some moderators really remove not only posts, but also users they don't like.

The positive ones I see tend to be short, sarcastic, or just something along the lines of "This is better than Terraria" without any further details to explain the case.

Regardless of that matter, it would take a significant amount of people to create a flow of "negative-reviews", which considering the fact that you need to have purchased/played the game to even post a review on the Steam Forums for the respected game, speaks volumes to me.

 

That wasn't really anything nice in the review. I took out the stuff that was just personal attacks. I personally don't like anything in the review, but I left the non rule-breaking parts intact and the thread open. Sorry you don't agree, PM me with any questions.

 

No, it's ok. I only don't agree with banning, but everything else is somewhat righteous, yeah.

He was indeed rather dumb in calling Mods fascists,that aint right and we know it.

Was referiung to the original review he posted,the one he aquired in the oh almighty Steam Forums.

He was ideed stupid,and deserved the ban he obtained.Calling mods Fascists aint right.

As opposed to ones like "lolnope, just lies and disappointment" and "they stole our money and stopped developement" which is blatantly untrue?

There are plenty of long positive reviews man

 

A lot of people have a really warped view of the Mods and why they make the decisions they make. It's still inappropriate to call someone a Fascist. If you yelled that at a judge in court they'd absolutely hold you in contempt.

 

Still, a lot of people still seem to agree with the negative reviews regardless.
