Closed Black screen with UI only when loading character

So yeah... Spirited Giraffe borked my character from Upbeat Giraffe. I load in but it's just a black screen, I can move the mouse around and the UI works, but it crashes a few seconds after. From what I can gather, it's the character causing the problem for some reason and I don't want to start over

Included are the latest log file, a screencap of the error and just in case it may be a problem with an item, a screencap of my character's inventory.

 

I've encountered this same issue. From what I can tell it's the ship file. I assume it's because of the pet trying to load within the ship. Something might be in the way of the pet spawning or it won't spawn correctly because of ship upgrades, I'm not sure.

My friend however did NOT encounter this issue, even though he also has a fully upgraded ship. It might just be bad luck.

Yeah, me neither. I posted a thread about this issue. One of the moderators mentioned how to upgrade your ship if you can't use the S.A.I.L command. I also asked them about a list of item codes to spawn things in, so if you want a link to that I can give you one. Unless you remember everything you had in each chest though, you're going to lose some things. I'm fine with most of it though, since most of it was junk, and anything I wanted to keep I can spawn in again.

Well that would've been nice to know before I restarted my ship. Thanks for the future info though, at least I know how to fix it an easier way next time.

I've had this problem too. Once I was playing when my whole computer froze up and I had to hard reset it. When I got back in the game I found the world had corrupted and been wiped, so that sucked. I also found I couldn't play that character in single player anymore, but it worked fine if I played multiplayer on my own server.

 

I would've tried multiplayer before I wiped my ship except my multiplayer server would've been down since the update. Probably.[DOUBLEPOST=1429727180][/DOUBLEPOST]Also, just looking at the files you included with your thread, Eagle, I've actually had that exact same error.

 

I ran into the black screen issue as well, but managed to find a way around it...I tried using the 64-bit OpenGL client, and loaded a newer character. I saved and quit, then was able to load my main character with ship intact. I'm not sure which did it, but my guess was loading my alternate character rather than the client, as the 32-bit client loaded my main just fine afterwards.

 

Huh. I tried to run the game with OpenGL and it didn't work. Might've just been I was just trying to open my main character. On the bright side now, though, my ship is becoming better than the original.
